So I mentioned in my last post that I was at a conference at Akure this past week.
It was organized by Pastor Funke-felix Adejumo, a women conference and it was just awesome.
We just rounded up a powerful session one evening when I just felt led to empty my purse and give and of course one cannot hold back in giving so I gave.
No sooner had I given it and satan brought thoughts of “you will be hungry throughout this month of may and you’ll be broke”
Of course I cast the silly thoughts down, but I was on my way home in a cab again when the thoughts started coming on again.
“How will you survive in May, bla bla bla bla bla”
This time though, I had this repetitive voice in me saying “I call you blessed, you are the blessed of the Lord”
It just started ringing in my head and when that happens, it’s time for a digging in into the Word.
So let’s go there shall we?
The first thing that came to mind as I opened my Bible was the blessing of Abraham…
Genesis 12:2-3
“I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.â
All great and awesome promises yes?
Remember that the blessing of the Lord on Abraham made him a very rich man. God sooooo blessed him!
But then I also saw that we have even greater blessings in the line of Jesus.
The blessings we have from Jesus doesn’t negate the blessings of Abraham, rather it gives gentiles access to those same blessings and more.
Galatians 3:13&14
“But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, âCursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.â Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.”
But then even at that, there is more…
Ephesians 1:3
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”
Now, the blessing we have in Jesus isn’t just material blessing, they include EVERY spiritual blessing on high.
Now tell me which spiritual blessing that doesn’t spill over physically?
When your spirit is blessed, won’t your physical self show it too? It will overflow into the physical.
The blessing we have in Christ doesn’t erase the blessing of Abraham, more is even added to it in Christ.
So when you say “I am the blessed of the Lord”, it’s a manifold and complete blessing, fully and totally in Christ.
And what do you do to deserve it?
Nothing really, it’s been gotten by being united with Christ, all you do is to receive it.
Now, this is what I felt like God was really saying when the words started ringing in my head.
We do absolutely nothing to receive this blessing, He has given it to us all paid for by Christ and when we know this, we can then come to this point…
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”
All our worries will disappear when we know that we are blessed of God.
I mean, obviously, our lack of cash doesn’t guarantee our being blessed or not, yes, the blessing spills over into material wealth, but no, the amount of cash in our accounts doesn’t determine whether we are blessed or not.
Our being united with Christ is what determines it.
So when those thoughts of “you go hungry this month” came into my mine, the truth came in to conquer it too.
I am the blessed of the Lord.
Blessed with all spiritual blessings on high, so whatever I touch is blessed, whatever I lay my hands to do is blessed.
Oh, the physical may not be in line with the spiritual right now but who cares?
The Word is our reality.
The Word says that we are blessed with all spiritual blessings on high, grafted and made partakers of the blessing of abraham, and that’s what I believe, that’s what I speak, that’s what I confess.
I will encourage us, cast down those thoughts that satan uses to disturb you from your head.
You are blessed of the Lord.
Take no thought for what you will drink or eat, and just pursue the kingdom, the blessing will speak for you.
It seems easy as I write it but it isn’t always easy and that’s why this is a Bible study.
You can’t conquer and get this truth in your heart without the Word.
Eat and soak up the Word and start declaring it.
Let the Word be your truth not physical circumstances.
Believing is seeing remember?
satan may delight in toying with your mind but keep your heart on the Word and keep your confessions straight.
We are the blessed of the Lord.
And His blessings maketh rich and addeth no sorrow along with it. (Proverbs 10:22)
Thank you Jesus!
Confession: I am the blessed of the Lord, whatever I lay my hands to do is blessed, wherever I step on is blessed.
The Lord has guaranteed a blessing on all that I do. I am blessed with all spiritual blessing on high.
Thank you Jesus!
Till our next Bible study,
Much love,
Frances.
