Yesterday, I met up with some of our amazing sisters from “the Women At The Well” to pray.
And as one of us raised a prayer point on God giving us the power to create wealth, ie, multiple streams of income, Matthew 25 just flashed through my mind.
âAgain, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the lastâdividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.
âThe servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more. But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the masterâs money.
âAfter a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.
The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, âMaster, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.â âThe master was full of praise. âWell done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Letâs celebrate together!’…
âThen the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, âMaster, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didnât plant and gathering crops you didnât cultivate. I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.â
âBut the master replied, âYou wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didnât plant and gathered crops I didnât cultivate, why didnât you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.â
âThen he ordered, âTake the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver.
To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.â
-Matthew 25:14â-â¬21â, â¬24â-â¬30 NLT
Oh there’s so much in this passage, but I will leave you to get insight and rhema tailored for you in this season.
BUT what I want to point out today is the fact that the Master gave them all Talents they could use for investment.
Two of them WENT TO WORK with their investment and the other one buried his investment, citing excuses that surely may have sounded valid to him at the time.
Jesus returned and you’d expect that He’d pamper the one who said he was afraid and that was why he didn’t go to work but no, all Jesus saw was a “wicked and lazy servant”.
So as we prayed I just thought, what are we doing with the previous ideas God has given to us?
If we are praying for God to open doors and give us the “gbosa” idea that will turn things around for us… God is asking “have you gone to work with the previous one I gave to you?”
It’s still lying there dormant.
You buried it in the ground but you want another.
MY kingdom doesn’t work that way.
You’d notice that when Jesus came back, He said “you have been faithful in little, so now I will give you many more responsibilities”.
So my blog family, have we been faithful in little?
Of course when words come to me, my own life is X-rayed and for me, I was given an idea for aspiring authors for months now.
I’ve been working on the manual off and on and even though I sent to the blog subscribers that we’d have a seminar in Lagos soon, I was/am still skeptical as to whether I want to go full out with this.
I know the idea. I know what I am to do with it BUT like that third servant, I am rationalizing with different things that seem valid but really is just me being “wicked and lazy”.
Wicked because me not doing this will be holding back the lives God wants to bless.
Lazy because well, It will take work to get this running and the flesh is always like “biko leave me jare!”.
But yesterday I repented.
No more of being in that third servants place.
I am GOING TO WORK.
I hope as you study the above passage too, you let the Spirit help you move as needed.
We must note too that if you are in a place where you know what to do BUT the season hasn’t come to get on it yet, then #rest.
Don’t jump out and start something up before it’s time.
But if the Master has expressly given you something and says to you “go and invest it”, then ask for grace and help and GET TO WORK.

God help us all to live purposeful lives in Him…Â Not making excuses that really, can just be tagged into two words: “wicked and lazy servant”.
May we run in step with the master, so at the end, we can all hear “well done, good and faithful servant”.
In Jesus name, amen.
Have a great God-given purpose driven week ahead dears.
Love,
Frances.
