#Purposeful Living

What’s Your “But”?

This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country-a land flowing with milk and honey… BUT the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak!” – Numbers 13:27-28

And I was reflecting on this; how many “buts” have we placed on the road to achieving what we want?
Oh, working as the general manager in my company will be amazing BUT my oga will never promote me…
I will really love to marry a virtuous lady/a man after God’s own heart BUT they don’t exist anymore…
OMG, graduating with first class would be lovely BUT they said its impossible, so I think I should never aspire for it…
Oh, getting a job in my dream company is something I really desire BUT they said I must ‘sort’ someone to get there so I’ll just forget it…
I would really love to start that business this year BUT Chidi said it won’t succeed…
Andit goes on and on.

How many times have we actually defeated ourselves with the BUT’s even before we take a step on the road to achieving what we want?
Yes, even the ten spies Moses sent to spy Canaan did it too. Before they set out in battle against the occupants of the land of canaan, they cried “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are”

But then Caleb said “Let’s go at once to take the land, we can certainly conquer it!”- Num 13:30
Joshua said “Do not be afraid of the people of the land. They are helpless prey to us, they have no protection, but the LORD is with us, don’t be afraid of them” Num 14:9

Oh, I feel like bursting in tongues.
Do you know that those BUT’s, whatever they are really do not matter in the grand scheme of things?
It doesn’t matter how many obstacles seem to be in front of whatever you are facing on the road to achieving what you want.
What you really need to do is to change your attitude and mind set to it all.
Will you be like the 10spies that were already defeated by their minds before they stepped into battle? Or will you be like Joshua and Caleb, who despite what they saw in Canaan still held on to the fact that they can conquer it all?

Regardless of whatever “BUTS” you may see, the LORD is with you and those buts are nothing to Him.

See that director/your oga you fear?~”The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases”-Prov 21:1

See your abilities/capabilities you doubt?~”For I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength”-Phil 4:13

See that exam you are scared of?~”Yes, I have more insight than my teachers”-Psalm 119:99

You really think your business won’t prosper?~”Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed…The lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain…”-Deu 28:6&8

See that desire of your heart you think is too big for God to do?~”God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”-Eph 3:20

What are your “buts”?
Those buts have nothing to them.
Others may have tried and were stopped on their tracks by those “buts” but you won’t be; the God with whom nothing is impossible for Him to do is on your side!

I pray that not just success but good success that can only come from God will fall on us in all our endeavors…
I pray that God grants us grace to renew our mind sets…
I pray that there shall be a resounding “God is with us” in our spirits that will conquer the “buts” whenever they come to mind…

Have an amazing time with what’s left of the week dearies.
Much love.

God’s only pain is our lack or inadequate trust that he is still on the throne. Truly, which report do you believe? This post is rich and may you continue to enjoy God’s exceeding grace.

No ma, I’ll never want to be like the spies. I will never let the ‘hallucinations’ and buts to instill fear in me!

Yes ma, I will ever want to be like Joshu. Even in the midst of the ‘hallucinations’ and buts that might want to brainwash me, I will still trust in God’s assurance. And I will keep moving.
