What Have You Got???

When I was younger,between the ages of 10-14 thereabouts,I used to envy my Elder Brother that he had so many talents/gifts.
I mean,the guy could draw(he didn’t go to any school to learn that),he could sing,he could rap,He’s a graphic artist,he’s good with computers…

I on the other hand,felt totally empty and talentless compared to him.

To me,God gave me nothing and instead gave one person more than he could handle (my Brother could just dump one of his gifts for long periods of time)
I felt that God was unfair,really partial to me.

So I walked around for some years thinking that I wasn’t really good at anything.
Like,what’s my talent really?
God just gave everything to one person and left me to float.
It didn’t help that even after racking my head about it,I still never found something I could say was my talent/gift.
Fastforward to my years in the University,and afterwards,all I could see in me was an abundance of God’s gifts.
They are so much I don’t even know how to use them all.

I can act.
I can write.
I can speak confidently.
I can inspire others with my words.
I am a good shoulder to lean on if need be.
I have a good business acumen.
Some people even say I have a good voice(but err,I never explore that one,I am still scared that I will blow mics).
I am so good with cash that I can pass for an accountant(but abeg,Law is still my first/only Love for a profession)…
And many others that I am yet to discover!

Whoa! From thinking I had no gifts to discovering I had so many with lots yet to be discovered.I never knew these gifts existed till the time was right and I was ready to discover them.

Just Like me,you may have looked at your Brother,Sister,Friends…wondering why God gave it all to one person and left you out.
You envy them and think “if only I have their gifts”
Guess what?
You don’t have their gifts.
But You have your gift(s)!

God didn’t create anyone of us empty.
We are created with a specific purpose we are meant to fufil and God gives us the exact gifts/talents we need to fufil that purpose.
Like Apostle Paul said in Romans 12:6-8:

“We have different gifts,according to the grace given to each of us.
If your gift is prophesying,then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
If it is serving,then serve;
If it is teaching,then teach;
If it is to encourage,then give encouragement;
If it is giving,then give generously;
If it is to lead,do it diligently;
If it is to show mercy,do it cheerfully.”

Our gifts and talents are always inside of us.
Reach down into you and draw them out.
There’s no need to envy another like I did.
We only need the courage and strenght to reach down there and discover it.
And at the right time,it will manifest.

I leave u with these words from Maryanne Williamson…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light,not our darkness,that frightens us most.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
ITS NOT JUST IN SOME OF US,ITS IN ALL OF US.
And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Have A Splendid Week People.
New Week,Greater Grace.

    I enjoyed reading your post! If only we knew how much God placed in us we’d never worry about how much talents others seem to have.
