“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
I Corinthians 15:51-55 NKJV

Some weeks ago, while on a flight back to Nigeria from Cameroon ministry trip, the air hostess came to meet me to explain what to do in time of emergencies as I was sitting on the seat close to the emergency door.
As she started to talk about how to go out of the door and sit on the wings of the plane to jump down if the plane had any issues, I found myself thinking about death.
I actually thought about it for some long moments.
I had just been to a ministry trip that was very hard, very tasking and very hard (did I say hard twice?)
It almost started to feel like, if I actually die and go to see Jesus now I’d feel like I’ve done something about my destiny. Maybe my regrets would be unfinished books and also some parts of my ministry I haven’t trained others to carry on well but after that trip I actually felt like I had done well for a young lady less than 30 years old. I was walking in destiny albeit in the early stages but my death won’t be so bad right now.
Ps: I know God still has so much for me but I was analysing death in the light of what I have done for God with my destiny.
That same weekend I was to minister at Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa where the Spirit of God fell upon the ladies in revival for their destinies.
(You can see videos here: https://youtu.be/jYVxDlI0g5M – it would bless you if you are a woman CALLED by the Lord for your generation).
After the meeting one of the ladies followed me to my room and said the Lord said she should meet me to pray for her. As I did the power of the Holy Spirit fell again and we all were just overcome by the presence of God. Then she started to share of how the Lord had given her a vision of how she was almost going to be dead but he said he was preserving her because of her call to reach out to children. She had this vision and then in real life almost was trapped in an accident one day. God warned her again that I am letting you live only because of this calling over your life and still she hadn’t started what the Lord wanted her to do with children.
Oh, as she shared I was led to speak with her as death was something I had been analysing in light of my calling and destiny just a few days before.
I told her: “who told us our lives are assured?”
Because she said she wanted to start the ministry to children after she graduates from the university in two months.
But who says that we would still have our lives in two months?
The scripture we started with above says “in the twinkle of an eye” we shall be called up to the Lord. In the twinkle of of eye talks about the rapture but also absolutely emphasises how death happens..in the twinkle of an eye.
One moment you are here on earth and the next moment you are standing face to face with Him.
May we not be ashamed when we stand before Him.
It is destiny that assures our lives on earth. It is what we are called to do that guarantees us a place in the land of the living and if we are not serving God’s purpose of destiny on the earth, then why should He let us live?
We make plans so arrogantly sometimes.. who says you’d be here on earth tomorrow? Next tomorrow? Next month?
In the twinkle of an eye you could stand and see Him face to face.
What would you tell the Lord then?
What would be your answer for if you used the life He gave you for Him? For His purposes or for yourself?
There is no time more than this time to live forth His purposes for our lives.
“There is no time better than now when we still have breath.
I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”
John 9:4 NKJV
There may be night time here on earth when you can’t work but death is also a night time.
Black out.
Deep darkness.
You can’t rewrite the past.
You can beg for one more chance.
In the twinkle of an eye you are gone to see your King and account for what you used every moment here on earth for.
What would you say when you stand before your king?
Would you say you were waiting for the right time when you weren’t so busy? Next two months? Next four months? Next year?
He would say you presumed so arrogantly that you were still going to be on earth.
Night cometh when no man can work so get going with the will of the Master for your life.
At my end I have felt such an urgency to do the will and work of my Master the Lord Jesus in recent times I almost have to ask myself if Jesus is coming soon. What’s happening? But of course He is coming soon and we need to rise up and work His works while it is yet day while we still can.
What is the right perspective of death?
Believers should actually stop being so shocked when a Christian sleeps. It happens in the twinkle of an eye.
And can happen to us too.
I feel like with all that has happened with deaths of not just unbelievers but believers also in recent times, God is calling our attention to something deeper. He is sending us a message also. Life is a gift and He can require it of us at any time.. He can call us home anything..
In the midst of fulfilling my calling and doing God’s work, I have thought of death..and I am not even 30 years old yet. I just want to live a life that says I obeyed the Lord, did the things He asked me to do till my very last breath.
I don’t want to be ashamed when I meet Him in the twinkle of an eye and I pray you won’t be too.
May the Lord help us all sense the urgency of the times and seasons in Jesus name. Amen.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. May God comfort all all mourn. I can’t can’t imagine the sadness but for sure they don’t want to come back to this dying earth. They have seen the Lord!!! Oh my. And we would see Him too..soon. If He tarries but maybe even here on earth when He comes.
We pray for long life but the truth is we have no time to waste.
We can’t make plans and feel like we would be here for those plans..it is only as the Lord wills.
May the urgency of the times and seasons rest on us in Jesus name amen.
