The Oasis International Conference – Thirsty… Day One!

For the next four days I will write or try to write for souls like me that need to be filled with the Spirit of God.

Some of us think about who we were in time past and we wonder where that tongue speaking, burning for God lady/guy went.
Some of us are almost walking corpses. We eat and drink and people around us think that we are functioning as we should but our Spirit is dead inside.
We hunger not for the things of God, we are dull in the spirit, sharpened not by the things of God but by the desires of the flesh.
We run around in circles, chasing things that we think will give us fulfillment and leaving the chase that we need most of all behind.
And this is exactly what the thirsty conference is for. For a generation hungry and thirsty for the life in the Spirit. For a generation hungry and thirsty for the glory of God.
I have told myself that this year will not end with my Spirit dull and in a limbo and I will be writing for the next four days for everyone who wants to be fired up in God again.
Yesterday, the first day of the conference opened up with Pastor Chintok Ishiaku preaching on “Hunger”.

Now, he said, satan knows that our thirst for God can uplift us so he fills us with thirst for other things.
He fills us with the pride of life, with love of the world, with love for money, with love for chasing around material things in circles when we should be chasing God.
This whole hunger for God revolves around our desires.
If you do not set your desires right, if you don’t deal with some of these things now, when God starts to give you platforms, you will break down.
Some of us are desiring God and trying to do His commandments by the flesh… but if you attempt to desire God’s things by the flesh, you will always fall short.
You can only overcome by the Spirit.
When you find yourself loving the things of the world, then it means that ALL your heart isn’t set on the things of God.
You can’t set half of your affection on the desires of God and half on the world. You can’t serve both God and mammon, you don’t have the capacity to do that, one will win out at the end.
The reason why some of us right now read our devotion as a thing of routine is because we do not thirst for God.
Now, we may not know but the first thing satan does to bring us down is to replace our desire for God with the desire for something else.
No one should force you to pray. You should wake up and desire the things of God above all else. But people can go about their day without God’s word because they have found a way to replace God with something else. And their desires show what their hearts are fixed on.
What is your heart fixed on?
Some of us have esteemed our jobs, relationships, desire for marriage above God. They have become our idol.

If you truly desire God, certain things happen to you…
(1) You lose the desire for certain other things.
Now here’s the deal, everything that draws you away from God is what satan calls vanity. He sets a chase in front of you and makes you think that you will be satisfied when you hit a benchmark..when you earn more, when you have a job, when you marry…
Satan sets the chase before us but doesn’t tell us the consequence. ie, he told Eve and Adam that they will be like God if they eat the fruit from the tree but he didn’t tell them that they would die and fall from the standard God put them in eden.
Satan makes us think that God is a task master when the truth is, all commands God gives is for our own good.
Sometimes, He withholds because He has seen the future and knows it won’t end well for us so He stops us from doing certain things.
God does not only love us, He is the definition of love Himself. Everything He does is centred around love. So He tells you the consequence not to threaten you but to tell you that you determine largely where you fall.
Some of us are saved and relaxed. Like the man given one talent by Jesus. We think that whether or not we do God’s work, God will have His way anyway. So we are saved and relaxed.
While some of us are saved and working.
Now, God will give to everyone according to his work. It’s not more of the fact that we who are saved will be going to heaven, it’s “what kind of welcome will we get there?”
Not every vessel are gold or silver, some are bronze and wood but if you cleanse yourself, you will be used for God’s every good work.
So it is in your hands.
It’s all in your thirst for the things for God.
Do you desire God so much that you want to work for His glory to be seen in all the earth?

Now, Pastor Chingtok said something, he said SIN IS INFERIOR THINKING.
It’s the kind of thinking that doesn’t lean on God but lean on their own understanding.
The kind of thinking that we know it all and we don’t need to be thirsty for God.
But we were made after the image of God and the only way we can see who we are is by seeing who God is.
The extent of your transition to God depends on how thirsty you are for God.
You cannot see who you are except you see God.
God’s commandments aren’t burdensome and when you get to the point where you see that they are for you, to save you, then you can follow and obey God in totality.
Some of us want to obey God but don’t want to love God.
If you don’t come to terms with the fact that God’s thoughts of you are of good and not of evil then you will continue to chase other affections that won’t satisfy you.

For the single ladies, some of us have esteemed marriage as an idol. Any man who smiles on us has our heart. No, it shouldn’t be so, our desires should so be on God that it will take God himself for us to notice a man.
When your thirst grows for God, your prayers will change. You stop praying for just personal needs and you start praying for God’s glory to fill the earth using you as a tool for Him.
God meets your needs not because you even pray but because you are pursuing God so much that He doesn’t want any distraction of lack to stand in your way.
God settles Him because He knows it’s for the advancement of His kingdom.

Some of us cannot trust God with our everyday lives, we can’t live for Him.
We need to get to that point where we pray more for God’s Spirit to fill the earth than for our own needs.
How God choses to uplift you isn’t any of your business. Your business is to humble yourself for Him to exalt you.
Your being thirsty isn’t your looking for God so He can give you material things, it’s so you can discover the fullness of who He is – the glory of God on the earth.
When you know this, you know that with every infilling of God comes more to know of Him.

God is trying to raise a generation of those thirsty for Him, people deeply in love with Him.
This present generation will pass away soon but God is raising a generation that won’t be bothered about the earth passing away because they are ahead of it…. because we look forward to the last day when the earth will be destroyed for us to see Jesus.
What do you hunger for?
What do you hunger for?
Who does your heart pant after?
Are you desirous of knowing God more and more?
Every discovery point and need should lead us to God.

Are you desirous of being filled with God’s Spirit?
Whatever a man desires, he priorities. Are you prioritizing God?
Our prayer should be Lord, cause me to desire the things that are divine.
I should wake up in the morning and be excited that it’s a day for church service. A day to go to God’s house.
A generation should arise that desires the things of God so much that they wants Him to come in and take over all.
Pray, Lord give me a thirst for you, take away the desires of chases that are not of you.
I want to set my affection on you, on you alone.

Now, I don’t know about you but I have told myself that I will end this year on a spiritual high and with spiritual alertness.
My spirit won’t be dull.
It’s time to be awakened in God.
To be renewed in Him.
And I have been praying, I won’t leave this conference the same way I came.
Everything that needs to be renewed in my soul will be renewed.
Do I have anyone like me reading this?
Then pray like never before, Lord fill me with your Spirit.
Increase my hunger and thirst for you.
Fill me with your Spirit and a hunger for you…

I’m sorry there are no pictures, my camera wasn’t set up. The subsequent days chronicle will hopefully be different.
And I don’t know how possible it will be to write everyday.
I would love to offer this writing as a sacrifice to God and to call others into this but I maybe pressed for time but I promise that if I don’t write as the days go by, I will write it all next week.
Just pray along with this and think on it.
Don’t end this year with your Spirit man still dull.
Desire and pursue after the things of the Spirit again.
Set your affection on the things of God and make a U-turn, today, TODAY.

The address is still 3Keystone Bank Crescent, Off Adeyemo Alakija Vi, Lagos.

it is the need of the hour my sister. You want to be ignited for God and be nit, joined with God, there must be taste for the infilling of the Spirit. And you know that true happiness and joy comes with this as it burst with revival of the soul. That was why the psalmist boldly and vehemently asked God, “Will thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee . . .”.

Oh Lord, revive and pour out your spirit on me, us once again!!!
