Awakening Youths

The Beginning Of The Awakening…

I thought for a while on what post should be published to start up the awakening youths section of the blog today.
But of course I have to start from the beginning or this will fizzle out if I don’t remember my roots.
After writing the awakening, the desire to spread the truth about women having purpose in this world aside from getting married and having kids burned in me and I knew I had to speak to as many as I could.
I planned to start up in September after Law School but I procrastinated on this till towards the end of 2014.
Held the first of these talks in a School in my town in Ughelli, Delta state.
I was so scared as to what I would say, I had notes from the previous day but the funny thing is that I didn’t use them.
We started with prayers, then I spoke on beauty to them.

I told them that they were all beautiful and they should know this truth.
That now isn’t the time to let any guy deceive them with flattery, now is the time for them to develop themselves and impact their world.

sc
I gave them examples of Margaret Thatcher, Myles Munroe, Ben carson… It was sad to see that they didn’t know these persons but I tried to inspire them with their story.
Then I told them about myself, that I am a lawyer right now, they can be whoever they want to be. Forget distractions and walk in God as He shows them their role on the earth.

It was interesting to hear them all say their talents and dreams. Some of those dreams may change as time goes on but I pray that the words they heard that day will keep their dreams alive.
As I was leaving, my sister commented on some of the senior girls who weren’t even paying attention and as I was explaining to her, a scripture I overlooked some days back came to me.
I was in Lagos some days before and I felt like reading 1Corinthians where Paul talked about him planting the seed, Apollos watering and God giving increase.
As I explained to my sister, I just started saying, I am not the one to increase the words I said in their minds, God will do that when the kids need them.
I have done the work I feel led to do, I have planted the seeds, now God can lead someone to water them and they will increase as He wills them to do.

I just shared the above words for anyone who has dreams to carry out like mine but is scared.
You don’t think that your words will carry any weight… well, it’s not our job to make them carry any weight, it’s God’s job to increase the words in the lives of others, our job is to say the words to them as we are led to do.

And oh, I employed the services of my younger brother and sister to act a drama 🙂

I’m starting from this first event to open up awakening youths section on this blog because I don’t want to ever forget the reason why I am doing this and this one of the biggest things I have to do this year. I want to stay faithful and not brush it away.
I plan to have at least 9 of this kind of event in my PPA State and each of these will feature a skill training section. Eg, cake baking, pastries making, soap making, etc.
I don’t need a whole lot of money to do this but I just may need some sponsors. I won’t worry myself about that, God dey.

And in the course of this year, if you have something you do which touches lives like this, a project, anything, you can send in with pictures and I will put it up on the blog.
This awakening youths section is also to awaken a desire in you to find your purpose and niche in this world and fulfil it.
I interviewed some youths in NYSC camp and we will be seeing the Youths Speak section from next week here.
I hope you will be inspired as you see dreams of fellow Nigerians like ourselves.
All Nigerians youths are not rascals, some…many have a plan for their lives which I pray will become a reality.

P.S – I lost the memory card that held all the pictures of this event but the one I uploaded up there which was the only one I previously uploaded on the blog. Painful right? It won’t be like this for the next events.
I will upload with the pictures intact 🙂

UPDATED – Yipee! I found the memory card with the pictures. They are up on the post now. 🙂

Awesome! Thats a great perspective to always keep at the forefront, plant the seed, that’s all we are commissioned to do. The holy spirit will do the rest. The parable of the sower that went to sow seeds, some fell on furtile ground, some dry ground, some shallow ground…..We have no controll over the condition of the minds we sow into.

God bless you for drawing our attention to that Bible passage higly favoured.
The Francine rivers book I just read was on that..
    The seed…the soil…the growth…
I think it’s time to even do a deeper study on this, maybe I haven’t gotten the full revelation on this yet… our hearts will ache less when we know that our job is to stay faithful..God alone does the increase.
Thank you Highly Favoured..may you continually walk in God’s purpose for your life in Jesus name, Amen.

It’s amazing to see how God’s laid in our hearts, a desire to impact the younger generation for good.
I look forward to see more of your work with the girls Presh…

This is great. I did training last year to empower and impact young women through a program called ShineWomen and I hope to start this year by going to prisons to speak and inspire the ladies to have a better life once they are outside. Also work with secondary school girls. I can’t wait to see more of this series from you sister.
