Still Running THE RACE…

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance THE RACE that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:1‭-‬2 NKJV

The journey before and after every programme/assignment I have done for Jesus is always strung with serious battles.
After the programmes are hit with more of mind battles though. I know this tactic of satan but I still fall for it most times.

So after our recent NGO programme at DELSU Asaba campus which was a success…our aim was to plant and sow God’s seeds in lives and that we did to the glory of God.

After the programme, I went on social media and it wasn’t so much as social media envy this time around but a “Lord when? Does what I even do even bring any dividends? How do I even know that its paying of?”
First of all, God has told me that I am a sower before.
I sow seeds. What that means is that I don’t grow the seeds. I spread and scatter them and I don’t go checking if they have germinated or not.
Sometimes I conveniently forget this truth.

And then I wondered as I kept scrolling on Instagram, when would that which you have given me be like this and that?

Well, God addressed my heart during prayer time that night.

As I prayed that verse above came to me.

There are a lot of things in Hebrews 12 that are worth taking and swallowing and hugging close to heart.
For example, we need to lay aside weights slowing us down. Weights like looking at another’s journey and comparing ourselves to them. Which is foolish by the way…

“…but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”
-2Corinthians 10:12

But what the Spirit brought to mind in the above passage was THE RACE.

I had read Kenneth Hagin’s book “following God’s plan for your life” where he pointed out that there is A PARTICULAR RACE God has called us to run.
We are not all called to run the same race or take part in the same journey.
We have a tailor-made journey and walk with God.
God won’t access us based on another’s work for God but based on His set apart walk/work for us… based on what He told us to do.

And so when we really stop to think about this, what one person has done or not done has nothing to do with what you are supposed to be doing and what you aren’t doing.
We all have A PARTICULAR RACE we are meant to be running and the sooner we stick our noses (or our beeswax according to my sister Jessica) in it the better we would be.

So if we can get this truth to sink into our heads and understand that we are to run OUR RACE the better we would be.
If we can lay aside the weight of comparison, realize that it is foolish and time-wasting the faster we can be set free to indeed run our own race LOOKING UNTO JESUS (AND NOT INSTAGRAM) AS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH.

Trust me, this deception by satan has distracted me so many times so I understand how hard it can be.

Praying us grace to stick our nose in our own beeswax…
Look unto Jesus and stay faithful ON OUR PARTICULAR RACE.

Love you guys.

Happy new month and be sure to let seeing Jesus face and digging into Him/His word be your uppermost desire this month.

Till next week,
Love,
Frances
