#Purposeful Living Christian Writers And Bloggers Corner

Six Tips For Christian Writers/Bloggers…

So as you all my beloved readers already know by now, there was a time not too long ago when I felt like shutting down my blog.

Well, thank God that we are not controlled by feelings and the result of our not being controlled by feelings is me still here churning out the words in me to you. Cool yeah?
I have learnt and relearnt a lot of things since then and I thought to share for Monday’s inspirational drive today and though the tips were gotten for Christian writing/blogging, pretty much anyone who has a purpose in life/has a job/has a business/has anything they want to set up can learn from it. So read along with me dearies…
The first lesson I learnt/I had to come to terms with was…
(1)Who validates you? God, yourself or man?
You know, we live in a world of likes and comments today…
You put up a picture/post/business idea and you visualize the number of comments you can get on them even before you hit publish… You don’t get what you anticipate and your spirit is deflated but I ask again, who/what validates you?
We have to be very careful. Yes, commendation/validation from men maybe good but we should take heed so we are not drawn into the pit of being a people-approval junkie.
Who has called you to do what you do? Men or God?
Who placed those words in you? Men or God?
Who do you want people to see in your writings? You or God?
Do not crave the approval of men so much so that you lose sight of the only approval and commendation that truly matters-God.
Isn’t it eye opening, the way Apostle Paul in the Bible always said it matters not to me how I am evaluated by you(men?)

As-for-me-it-matters
He understood the secret of staying true to what God has called you to and not to man and we should let this sink into us too.

(2)See writing for God as a ministry.

Why do you do what you do? Why do you share the word of God He has put in you? Do you do it for people? Or do you do it for God?
I stumbled on a Christian Blog where the writer shared tips for writing/blogging and one thing struck me…
He said, “see your blogging as a ministry. You give out because it’s what God has called you to do but most times you get nothing in return.”
I have never, never seen it that way before now…
I know what God told me about writing and I know what I am supposed to do with it but then, this is truly a ministry.
A ministry to touch lives for Christ and no, I am not permitted to slack behind in running the race and it’s the same for you too.

No one said that starting something for God/anything at all will be easy, but everyone gave a lot of tips about blogging/writing.
They said, write about what you love and I wrote about God because I just knew that I love writing about God. I mean, I love Him, so it’s only reasonable that what I do centre’s around what I love.
But as I meditated on what a blogger wrote on his blog on blogging as a ministry, it just hit me.
It is more than writing about what I love, God has put the words in me, He has put the words in you so by all means we have to share them.
You may not see seeds in the way of comments but whoever said that your reward is in the way of comments or likes? In fact, whoever said that it is men who will reward you for spreading abroad the word of Christ?

No comments? It doesn’t seem like the blog/website is moving? Keep doing it anyway, you are doing what God has called you to do and not what man has called you to do. So by all means, spread the words of your heavenly Father in you.
(3) Be faithful and patient in the work that God has placed in your hands.
I was reading one of Kenneth Hagin’s book where he talked about the fact that when God gives you a vision, it doesn’t mean that the vision will come to reality next week, next month or even in the next five years. Fulfilling God’s purpose for your life takes place step by step and as He prepares you for the next phase, you have to be patient enough to follow His lead and not rush out on your own.
We have to be faithful in the little that God has called us to do now, work diligently at it and patiently follow God’s lead as He guides us step by step on the way.

(4)Na small by small, little by little.
You know, we all scream and shout that we want to touch lives.
We ask God to use us to touch the lives of millions of people… We want to spread God’s words to thousands but what about the life of that one person who’s standing right in front of you?
What about that friend, family member, acquaintance, stranger you met on a bus that needs you too? If you can’t touch the lives of individuals then how do you help millions?
Na small by small, na little by little.
Each life you touch builds you up to touch more lives for God.

(5)Bring down silly thoughts with the word of God.

Sounds cheesy? But true.
Here’s what I do, the word of God says to think only on what is good, pure, lovely, praise worthy…
And so, whenever silly thoughts concerning what God is using me to do comes up, I cast it down and replace it with God worthy thoughts.
I do this over and over no matter how many times I need to do it in a day. We go see who go tire na, I will win the battle of my thoughts no matter what.

The-real-battle-of
Read this to find out more about the battle in our minds.

(6) And finally, from Francine Rivers on her website

http://francinerivers.com/about/writing-tips

Don’t give up!
Let writing become another way to worship the Lord. Give all of yourself to God as a thank offering.
So this monday morning, I cannot claim to have stopped having silly thoughts…
But I can say with all certainty that when they come, I turn my thoughts back to focus on what is what is pure, true, trustworthy and noble…
And that is what God says about what I am doing. He has put me on this path and His deal is the surest deal, not the pat I get on the back from people.

And-now-dear-brothers

And today, I say not to just Christian writers/bloggers, but to everyone who has started up something God has told them to…
See that stuff as your ministry.
See it as something God has told you to do.
Work at it for Him and not for men. Let God reward you and not men.
Do what He has told you with all your might and at the right time, He will reward you with the reward that never fades.
Look up and not down, around or beside you.

I am pretty sure that there are so much more tips that can help us but I don’t want to write too much and bore you so hopefully, you were struck by one or more of the above like I was.
And do feel free to share more tips with us in the comment section…
I and every other person who visits this blog would love to hear from you.

PS – Please like my page on facebook by clicking on this link and follow me on twitter @Francesokoro, I wrote on searching our lives and thinking about our souls as we go balling in our daily lives and it is too long to reproduce here. But I really feel like everyone should totally read it.

Have a great, great week ahead 🙂
Love,
Frances.

Dear Frances, it is a joy to visit your blog. I am touched by the difference you are making and how you are reaching out to touch lives for good. These are great tips. I also learned a while ago to see writing (and blogging) as a ministry and to do it sacrificially unto God. It is a honour to be a vessel God can used to touch and impact lives through the power of creative words.

You last tip touch me in a special way, as it is a confirmation of what God laid on my heart at the beginning of October, that is, to write my book as an offering of praise to Him. I thought it was an unusual instruction. I have been writing a book for many years which I know I must complete this year, so I sought to understand what God meant by “writing as an offering of praise and thanksgiving.” I’ve learnt a lot in the process and you confirmed it. God bless you richly.

DON’T EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS OR ON YOUR CALLING ANG MINISTRY.

God bless you Aunty Irene, God bless you bigly for taking the time to share your comment.
It was a true eye opener to learn to see writing/blogging for God as a ministry and laying it out as an offering unto Him…
God help us to be faithful to what He has called us unto in Jesus name, amen

I am excited at the book God laid in your heart to write. And yes, His instructions doesn’t always make sense to the mortal mind but He’s got us. We will obey.

    Hey…
    Love the second pic
    I love God
I also love renewing my mind
Didn’t get a lot of validation from men
I had to learn to focus on God
It turned out to be an advantage!

Relying on God is a really advantage Tessa. I’m getting to realize that more and more. He never fails, He never slacks behind, He is constant, always there and He is not fickle. He does not validate us because of reasons men see, He sees a whole lot more in us.
      Hah! I love God! 🙂

I saw your post at work and said I won’t read this till I get home. It cannot be rushed. And need I say, that is one good decision I will stick to. Never read Frances’ post in a haste.

I will be honest with you. The lesson of human approval is one God had to teach me this year, and I am grateful for thus far He has brought me. I am reminded of Galatian 1:10 daily: ‘For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.’ I have learnt that when you do anything to please God, man will align. It may not be immediately, but it is not necessary because the One who has called us to do whatever it is, always has a reward. It will be a tragedy if what we seek is approval of men over the eternal reward from God.

May God continue to anoint you with His wisdom to impact lives for His glory. Amen. Lovely write up!

Lol @never read France’s post in a hurry. I’m grateful for people like you God has brought into my path Precious.God bless you.

The lesson of approval from god and not man is one I know I have to re-learn as many times as I need for it to sink in.I’ll let apostle Paul’s words sink into me and use it as a weapon anytime the road of placing men above God is set before me.
It’s God first, God always. We seek to please Him, not man.

As I wrote I’m awed by just how God works.
You know, I would never have learnt this if He just took me straight on a road to my blog reaching lots of people..i would never have come to terms with this truth. God always takes us on a journey with lots of virtues and lessons to learn along the way.sometimes, the journey is even more important than the destination.
I will walk with Him, where He may take me through, I will walk with Him.

Great Read. Biko, never let that thought creep into your mind again. See it this way: If you don’t write what you write, who will?’..You’d be amazed the number of people who are blessed by the words you pen. Keep the digital ink flowing & thanks for sharing.

And oh, even when the thought comes, we let it stay there as just a thought, not a deed…
Little by little, the unwholesome thoughts are drifting into air.

I read this and I don’t even know what to say. Then I looked around for the re-blog box.

The beautiful thing about this ministry is most times you don’t even know those God has called you to write for. They might be the ones in their little corner who read without commenting but the words God has put in your heart might be food to their soul . Letting God break us down and re-mould us on this journey is a guarantee for success.

Thank you for this encouraging piece darl, God bless!

And thank you for the tip too Buqie…
this journey/ministry really requires a total breakdown and willingness of our spirits to align with what God wants to do through us.. I continually pray that I will do this as many times as its necessary for me to…thank you for drawing my attention to this again.
And I have also realized that most times, the message God lays in my heart to write about is mostly for me too-the messenger… I may not comment, I maybe the one writing it, but still, God is saying something to me too…

Thanks babe, and as for reblogging, I do have to get the pluggin for that. Thanks for drawing my attention to it.
