I was supposed to see someone yesterday. But then something happened and it just didn’t work out. We had to reschedule for another time.
But the above is not the essence of this post, it just got me thinking of the times before now when I liked someone and became so eager for us to see each other that I actually took the bull by the horns and went out to meet them-mistake number 1, signaling desperation to the man, signaling me pursuing him.
This time, things are different.
I read
Ruth’s story in the Bible today… after laying the cards on the table for Boaz when she went to meet him at the threshing floor, she told Naomi what happened and Naomi told her to “sit back and relax”, that Boaz will do all it takes that day. And I just smiled when I read that. The mistake I made in the past was that I refused to sit down and relax. The man should work it all out, he is the pursuer, he is the one going after what he wants.
You know, after Ruth told Boaz to redeem her and marry her, he felt so honored, he said she was a prize and he swore to do all it took to marry her if the closest relative before him refused. And that’s how it should be.
Ladies, we’ve given the man green light, we’ve been open, we’ve talked, then “sit back and relax”, if that man sees you as a prize, he will pursue you as he should, yes he will.
Why? Because we know what men like Boaz do when they want a woman…Like Boaz they say “as God lives, I will do it”
They do not drag their feet when they know what a prize they have, they do not let you slip away.
Like Naomi said, when a man who is as serious as Boaz comes around, “he wont fool around, he will get everything wrapped up”.(msg version, Ruth 3:18)
Know your worth.
Take Naomi’s advice as I did yesterday- “sit still, be patient, sit back and relax”
If the man is serious about you, as God lives, he will do all it takes to have you.
If he is not serious about you, then as God lives, another man that is serious about you will come around, yes, as God lives, God will bring him around.
Yes he will.
Please read the whole of Ruth in the message version if you have not read it yet, it is just four chapters and full of lessons!. If I had time I would have run the series on lessons I got from it like I did with lessons from my favourite love story here- http://imperfectlyperfect92.wordpress.com/2014/04/23/lessons-from-my-favourite-love-story-1/ …maybe after bar exams. *fingers crossed*

July 6, 2014 at 2:30 amSit back and Relax….. Lovely and rereshing piece from the norm of ladies doing the pursuing. Ruth’s example will always be a perfect one for ladies, no matter how people try to twist it to fit the ‘Lady pursuing norm’. The man is to do the pursing; the bible says ‘he who finds….’, that means the man is to be pursuing/search; not ‘she who finds’, I just pray we ladies will understand we are more precious than rubies and take our place in being ‘findable’…..I can see you are a lover of the MSG version [I could be wrong about this]. But the MSG version drives ‘the message’ to the heart. All the best with your bar exam!

July 6, 2014 at 7:30 pmYou are not wrong Chinomsom, I LOVE the message version..its got me smiling each and everytime I read a passage with it, it’s so real and easily relatable..the Bible is rich abeg.
And yes, it’s high time we ladies learnt how to chill, “gra gra” does nothing for us relationship wise…
And thank you thank you for your wishes,God bless you

July 6, 2014 at 4:18 pmLovely Frances……enjoyed this piece. I’ve been in the same situation of just wanting to take the bull by the horn. Lesson from Ruth is so true. I’ll just sit back and relax. Hope you had a great time @ church.

July 6, 2014 at 7:32 pmThank you Temi…I did have an awesome time in church and lesson learnt from Ruth rings so true, taking the bull by the horn isn’t always guaranteed to bring results or the ring…I chose to sit and relax…as surely as God lives, He knows it all.
Have a great week ahead

July 7, 2014 at 8:02 amGreat Post!
“Sit Back and Relax” I can relate this to many more things than just relationships. The Anxiety disorder we have these days makes waiting such a chore. We live in a microwave generation where we would rather not wait, but God wants us to WAIT and relax in Him whilst we are at it! That is the test of faith for many of us, just sitting back and waiting. what if he/it doesn’t come? then he/ it wasn’t for me, but trusting God always involves waiting and Sit Back and Relax we must. No helping God abeg, me I don’t want no Ishmael circumstance around me biko.
Thank you Frances, God bless you.
