Most Women(95percent)are complicated and confused beings who do not even understand themselves or know what they want.they cry 4 nice guys but run with d bad guy bcuz they dnt know what they want so d simple solution is,define urself.as a lady, understand urself first, know what u want in life that way,u’ll know who u shld stick with instead of test running any guy that comes ur way.most importantly,we shld work on our personal relationship with God,put God first b4 any man.Let God be ur guard.** pls note however that d fact that a lady prays 4 a nice guy does not mean she is praying 4 a fool. Most of us want a man,sm1 who can truly be d head and at d same time very nice and understanding not a puppet so to those ‘crazy in love’ guys out there, yeah love us but dnt loose ur dignity and ego as a man.love us but we dnt want u to be our puppet.Be d man who loves but can also be in charge as a man.

Rubbish!!!Total disgrace to womanhood!!yeye people.Any woman that still believes she needs a man to be successful needs to be prayed 4,serious deliverance!!Be successful and men ur class will come 4 u after all even marriage is vanity.the whole importance they attach to marriage sef makes me wonder if having a husband is an automatic visa to heaven.

I sense a kindred spirit btw us @Ufuoma..I suspect these women do not have anytin doing with their hands, are not exposed or the culture has sunk so deep into their consciousness that they flow with it.its almost the same in Naija.wen u get to 20 the only prayer u get is for a husband.I am not saying its bad but there are other things that should be prayed for too in a lady’s life, there are other priorities,d importance given to marriage alone is alarming!

@Sandra,d truth is even those you think know themselves and carry themselves with dignity have one ragmuffin of a boyfriend dat treats them like trash and they don’t want to leave.its a puzzle to me for real..u r right there, women want a man that can be in charge as much as he loves them too, maybe that’s where d love of bad guys stem from.the bad guys lord it over them and takes charge and control of their lives but its always done in excess.where does d love still arise from? *me sef I don’t know*

God always proves Himself faithful to His children dat are ready 2 put d totality of their trust in Him. He wants us 2 believe in Him in d face of impossibilities. He’s lukin 4 dthose who will trust Him foolishly, jst lyk a child; those who will drop their challenges @ His feet n leave dem der. no woman rilly wants to stay single… not afta u’ve had a feel of being wit a companion like the ladies on the news. The truth is , if u v feelings den somday u ‘ll nid som1 to call ur own. dem ladies wanting husbands is never wrong… as “marriage is a sacred n a very special union”. d problem is that no body wants to b a liabilty to no 1 again cos d economy is not friendly as it used 2. der r husbands everywer buh not all husbands av d capacity n means to kip a home running, so staying single until one is redi is kinda d rite tin to du. To som comments categorizing dem ladies as rubbish, yeye ,even laziness, and stuffs like dat… this is the tin… their major problem is loneliness and not d odas like som pips mite conclude, for if a crucial study is made on dese ladies u’ll find at dat loneliness has eaten deep into dia marrows…. for a lonely world which in dis case “a life wit @ a patna” to even sought opinion frm is a frustating n empty world . Even d “independent ladies” in their twenties n above will get to a point wen they jst cant stay alone buh wil nid som1 to call dia own n possibly dia husbands, unless u wish to join the sisterhood or b like d celebrity “oprah” who i beliv has a patna to cuddle r wen she feels lonely…, then plz pray 4 those ladies n not criticize dem as u r not in dia shoes.

@etohBrave,yes marriage is a good thing,it is desperation for it that’s wrong.it has caused many ladies to make wrong decisions.and the truth is marriage doesn’t cure loneliness,u av to be complete on ur own to be able to be in another persons life.marriage gives companionship but d truth is,it cannot fill d void inside u,it is wen u are a wholesome individual that u can provide companionship to another…we are just saying, weda u want to get married or not,let it be 4d ryt reasons, desperation and unnecessary rush has never done anyone any good

U do av a point,d physical attributes have to also appeal to us but if he doesn’t have that,do I then throw him away? What if his inner attributes makes him attractive in my eyes bt to d eyes of d world he’s “somehow”.shouldn’t I then listen to my own heart?

Hilarious bus rides…I can relate…apparently, we both missed the heaven-circulated memo that stated a woman’s worth is only measured by her marital status…*sighs*….
To say i’m gutted at such insensitive, myopic opinions about “aged”unmarried ladies is an understatement….
In my opinion, marriage is a beautiful,God-ordained institution that admits two like-minded, similar purpose-driven persons who are committed to each other in love, honour and respect…living lives that please God, if a union doesn’t possess the aforementioned(not exhaustive in characteristics b.t.w) parameters, why intentionally set yourself up for a life of heartache, troubles and pain?…all because of societal/cultural expectations or the ticking of some biological clock… beats me!

That’s my submission dear…wishing you resplendent success in this new phase(NLS) of your life…
    Cheers!

    P.s; S/O to your lively bus-mates…Enjoy!

I also shared my thoughts right there,u can check it.
But I really don’t think she has a problem, thr cud b a range of issues preventing her frm getting married.including no right man yet.and if dat b d case,it doesn’t translate into something being deathly wrong her life.
All other things maybe working out well for her,bt ofcourse to society, dey mean nothing if she’s not a mrs.
She should focus on her life and leave d society alone.sofar as she knows she is on track, she shud wait and chill,if d ryt one will come as I believe he would, she shudnt rush into anytin cuz of wat pple say.
I applaud her a lot by d way,its not easy to stand firm and not be swayed by human opinions bt I am assuming her man hasn’t come and if not,she shud wait, like d Bible says,”though it tarries,at d appointed time,it will come”(thr cud b other reasons y she isn’t yet married and if d sibling dat wrote dat cares so much abt it,she shud talk 2her sis abt it,in a caring way and not in condemnation dat she’s not married yet(dats so silly to me by d way, relegating women 2d background cuz dey r not mrs.)
Pls check my comment thr 4wat I really think,d above I am writing now r rambling thoughts,am in a haste to go out 4 day 2of registration.

I feel like copying and pasting it on the brains, hearts and minds of every lady created by God….it would solve many challenges in more ways than one…
This is my thrust; know it or not,the God-ordained place of the woman (either in the world or a man’s life) is both indisputable and indispensable….The need for conscious, committed preparation for that place/role can thus not be over-emphasized.

Now is the time to build that time. If I buy bottle water, I hardly finish it, that water will follow me home cos I don’t drink too water. I even think that am wasting the money so I decide to be buying 10 naira water(drink and throw away shekina!) But another thing be say mk u nor use am dirty our country ooo(put that for mind). I had to relinquish my own notions and trust the word of God. I encourage single ladies not to give up or settle for earthly stereotypes of what a man is. Also deep calleth unto deep! Ask yourself, would a true man want you? You need to make yourself the kind of woman a true man would want.

thanks a lot for this post! I guess God wanted me to read this, and that’s why I stumbled on your blog today. I’ve been having these ‘struggles’ too, and have had several men & ladies tell me my expectations are unrealistic. Just yesterday a married christian brother, who was supposed to be ‘advising’ me about this issue started making advances. Said I’m putting him off because I’m holding on to childish ideas about marriage. This morning I decided to just forget about marriage for a while, cos I was almost convinced the kind of man I want doesn’t exist. well, I’m encouraged by the fact that I’m not the only one waiting on God for such a man.

tribalistic lines…love, understandin, compatibility are most basics…marryin frm ur tribe is not a guarantee tht he or she is ur dream man or woman…afterall wen u see a man and get atractd to him,u dnt see d name of the state he is frm engraved on his forehead?its his cariage or poise dt endears u to him,not his tongue or the logo of the state crested in his forehead.my mum just re echoed same to me wen last we spoke abt me getin married to a gal frm ma place.,I jokinly told her am bring a yoruba woman to d house, she paused and told me not to…buh dts her own opinion..I can get maried to a bisi,a ngozi or even a imagbong…love, understandin r most paramount, not the ancient mantra of marryin frm ur tribe .nice piece francie,,lawskul has nt given me tym to patronise ur wrks lately..buh thumbs up dear!

    Love this!
Gone are the days when women were entirely dependent on men. I can even imagine how frustrating it would be if someone kept asking me for money for little things like maggi and pant…ah…ah! There’s no way that man can value you much. My grandmum used to be a major advocate of a woman having her own source of income no matter how small it is. It helps with sanity in the home. BTW men shld not now take it for granted that their wives have incomes and use it as a reason not to but her things. A woman would love and respect her man more when he provides for her. Afterall that’s his constitutional/biblical responsibility…lol

Men cannot comprehend the magnitude of a woman’s expenditure. If you’re buying a car or house, he will understand, but not makeup and those things that make us happy. Eventually, he will become irritable because the burden is too much. Do yourself a favor and generate some income. No matter how rich he is, you don’t need to neglect your dynamic brain.

We’ve got to keep working on it,we’v got to use all God have deposited in us to shine forth that greatness.

One thing that I always find my self saying to me at points like this is “Hannah, It cannot get worse, that same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me,..what else do I need. But I must say to everyone that might find themselves at this point right now, “the path of the righteous is as a shinning light, it shineth brighter and brighter, unto that perfect day” Except you are not the righteous. But then again, WHY DID JESUS COME?.This consciousness must be birthed deep into your spirit and you’ll see that nothing can stop you and like I’ll always say to myself, “It is not over until you win”.
Thank you Frances, I could feel the need for you to spread this good news. I’m glad you are over that now. Those testimonies you shared on my post is just a tip of the Ice berg, God will def surpass your needs, in this coming year and that thing u are anticipating is not far, just kip speaking God’s word concerning you on that matter, and it will surface. kip watering your seed with his words and the harvest is surely near. God bless you dear. Love you, muah.

i was at this point for over a year. the devil had field day with me.. However, God does have plans for us, His word never returns to him without fulfilling the purpose for which it has been sent. My life is a living testimony to that. Yes, we would testify, Yes we are more than enough, Yes we will get to where God is leading us and Yes we will conquer. Much love darling.

Reading this I remember a post I did on my blog one time, I was down but I choose to believe that the storm would pass and that faith will prevail.

Sometimes depression and doubts just come to steal our Joy away and convince us that we aint up to standard and that God can’t really use us, But guess what? It’s all Lies. God’s word is final and will Surely Come to pass and NO MATTER THE SITUATION, God WILL MAKE IT ALL WORK OUT FOR GOOD.
    Relax! Keep your faith.

Thanks Frances for this beautiful Post and I pray that as you have come to this point where you have decided to keep your faith and Believe on God’s word, So God’s will give you more grace and Testimonies.

When u weigh the pleasures of sex with the Perfect plan/future God has 4u, you would spit in the face of any sex promoter.

Its a choice every believer has to make in their own time and its between them and God. No preaching or talk can change the soul or mind. It takes a resolute decision and the holy spirit’s help to stop. The worlds way has become the standard and it shouldn’t be.

    • Reply
      imperfectlyperfect
      December 30, 2013 at 10:59 am

Yes Eniola, the way the world’s standard is gradually seeping into believers is sad.
And yes,no preaching can make anyone stop except it comes from their own decision, but how can they make the decision except they hear the right thing? And how can they hear except its preached, like the word says in Romans 10:14-17- “But how can they call to him for help if they have not believed? And how can they believe if they have not heard the message? And how can they hear if the message is not proclaimed? And how can the message be proclaimed if the messengers are not sent out? As the scripture says, “How wonderful is the coming of messengers who bring good news!”…
So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ.(You can paraphrase d msg being preached to include keeping ourslvs pure for Christ)
We can only talk, and pray that the Holy Spirit water the words and make them yield good fruit.
      Thanks for stopping by Eniola.

Frances, I’m so happy you posted it. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17) – the bible says it all. Lots of girls have made mistakes in the past, including me and I’m not proud of it at all. However, I have accepted Christ, and I’m a new being, but, sometimes the devil makes me feel guilty. Sometimes, I break down when I remember the past.

Yes yours truly, that why the question of “God has forgotten, but have you?” Comes in.
Satan tries to draw us in by filling us with feelings of guilt even though God has forgotten and forgiven it all. Satan knows that if he allows us walk in that newness of life, his hold is loosend on us so he will accuse us with our mind,oh he will…
But the bible says,”there is therefore NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus and because you believe in Him,the power of the life giving spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death-(Romans 8:1-2)
I feel like bursting in tongues, yours truly, there is no condemnation on us anymore, we are cleansed, washed, its almost as if our sins never were, we can walk in christ in newness of spirit! Walk with this mindset dear, the past is gone, dead, buried!
And you can even use the past for God’s glory, after all he said, all things work for good of them who love him, your past can be used to draw men to christ, the young ones who have lost it,the new you now can be a testimony to them.
Let not the past let us drown in shame,no! Let it be an attestation to the goodness of God in our lives,to his love,to his grace.
The past is dead yours truly,it can’t speak as condemnation on u anymore, walk in this mindset. Much love

Bold eh! Are people still talking about virginity? The answer is YES! More powerful is when it comes from singles keeping it real. Chop knuckle. Please men should also be encouraged to celebrate viginity o. It’s a wonderful thing. For the sceptics I personally know 3 guys who married as virgins. They had kids within the 1st year of marriage. Our God is a great God!
    He promises us greatness,
    He promises us ‘greaterness’,
yesterday, people look us with a ‘small eye’,
today, they look up to us with ‘big eye’,
    tommorow, when God is done,
they’ll look up up to us with a bigger eye.
    Yes!

Our Daddy (He is our daddy, remember, Eloxie’s pos),
    He has promised us greaness,
and He is fulfilling His promises,
    we wont settle for less,
    (even if we want to,
    he wont let us).
    Nah!

    The once shy guy,
Has been made bold in Christ,
    that’s not all,
    he will be made bolder.

    The once weak,
has been made strong in Christ,
    no, that’s not all,
    he will be made stronger.

    That’s our heritage-
    slowly, steadily,
He’ll mold us into a better person,
whom He wants us to be.
Then people will see the light in us,
and they’ll give glory to our God in heaven.

Let’s keep boasting in the greatness of God.

Yahoo Yahoo is still a thing? Really? What a world! But again, we all should examine our desires if it lines up with what God wants for us. Love the scripture you put up: Psalm 73 “…Then I went into your sanctuary, O God,

My weekend was very hectic, but, now I get to rest as I have a whole week off 🙂 Guess you had an awesome weekend, Frances. Like you mentioned earlier – we have to keep speaking His words to Him – Nothing returns to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). I am ever so ready for greater, and I have picked a goal (can’t wait to meet you at the greater things zone). Thanks so very much, Frances, and may God keep blessing you. Very inspiring! The work part must be added on to the bricks of getting to greatness. Unfortunately the enemy tricks us with laziness, half baked work or complacency in the working, and many times procrastination.
What best way to enter that greatness but to spend time with Greatness Himself, Jehovah? And then diligence to that which is necessary…
    Thanks for this inspiration!

It is definitely the time to start the weeding process so the weeds don’t choke up the good plants.

I once heard a pastor say that every thing we need to know about “fellowship and eternity” is encapsulated in our relationships with humans. And if we can’t practice getting along as humans, workers in the vineyard, living everyday life following the statutes of God, we can’t fully experience the glory of what God describes about the hosts of heaven in the Book of Revelations.

Oh how I wish to be there with you guys @ the program! Do enjoy, and continue to share your experiences with us 🙂

Someone told me a story of a girl that did it on Vals day for the first time and that was how the belle came, the word needs to be spread, some maybe confused and pressured, thus just want to go ahead with it. God help us..
And woah! Fine Nurse! You have the perfect environment to spread the love on that day and for everyday you live, God bless you plenty plenty for me dear,I appreciate your kind words.

Very nice and considerate way to spend the Val. You know, sometimes we rush through the hustle&bustle of everyday life overlooking the ‘little people’ who have been made little by a lack of economic significance, disease, disability & voicelessness. And i believe like you rightly said, even a little kindness/help would surely do much to bring sunlight into their gloomy existence & make them feel that they are part of the society & can still achieve their dreams, may even draw a tear.
I have heard of places where they thank you everyday for a #500 naira gift (yeah!).
Like Mother Theresa said, when you help the less privileged, each of your five fingers echo Jesus words; “You did it to me”.

    P.S: i think you were 17 about turning 18 but still 17!

Loved this post. A refreshing look at Vals day. It shows it should be about love in it’s totality; not just romantic love.

To answer your question, you were old enough. Lol 😛

You raised solid points. I’ve never understood the idea of building castles in the air with a man you most certainly know can’t be yours. Why pin and yearn for him on vals day? Abeg let the love of God shine through jare!

I got this from Nathaniel Bassey’s Page on facebook and coupled with yours above, you couldn’t have said it better!

Come 14th February, a loveless world would celebrate LUST, in the name of LOVE. To them, the gust of testosterone and estrogen surging through the male and female body, leading to wild sex drives and uncontrolled libido, is LOVE. And as a result, sexual immorality would be at it’s peak that day and days preceding and even after it.

Billions of dollars in income and profit would be raked in from sales of goods and services world over. Corporate bodies and businesses smart enough to seize the moment would engineer, psychologically, the appetites and desires of consumers to spend using subtle and aggressive marketing techniques, all in the name of “LOVE”

But as Christians, called to be salt and light in a fallen world, we cannot join the rave, rather we must seek the Lord to save, by the power of the Holy Spirit, men and women on the path of hell and eternal damnation, as we seize the opportunity to introduce Christ Jesus – LOVE personified – to those we come in contact with that day. Praying and believing that every spiritually blind and lost soul will encounter the love of Christ which passes knowledge and that which truly fills and satisfies in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Secondly, me I no know the age where you begin look say you dey feel one kind..lol, and so let me just pass this giveaway by. but you sef, which kind of algebraic question is this? me i no like am oo…

And may the love of Christ shine through us all always! kisses

Happy Valentine. Spread forth the love of Christ, let it shine brightly..
