Prayers For Imperfectly Perfect Lives

I have been church hunting for a while now…
I am not one of those who is content with just prosperity teachings in Churches.
Business lessons from the Bible is good and I have benefited from them but when I go to Church, my soul usually thirsts for more.
I go to Church hungry to hear the word of God.
I want to lose myself in pure worship to God while the Holy Spirit wrecks me inside.
I want the word to pierce me like a double edged sword… convicting me of every sin in me.
I want to leave Church full of the Spirit and not just full of “Amens”.

And so, when I went to Church some two weeks ago and the only thing I heard was “God will give you your miracle before the end of the year”, I was disappointed and desperate for a church like my Church in Lagos(oh, I miss my church sooo much)

Anytime I speak to God about this, I usually have a frown on my face with an ache in my heart.
It’s a source of worry to me and I remember sending an email to Pastor Nathaniel about this dilemma.

There seems to be very few churches interested in spiritual development.
I know that every Church has its ministry from God, and each ministry helps the body of Christ.

But I need to go to Church and leave with more hunger to know who God is and not just have His blessings.
I spoke to a friend about this and he said maybe I am the one to bring forth a solution to this.
I laughed out loud and said not yet… no, not me.
But then, one night in December 2014, I woke up at night with a word of prayer on my lips for this blog.

Remember the words from thirsty series?
I suddenly started praying with a word that was said in the course of the conference.
Pastor Chingtok said – “A journey is a journey until life breathes on it”
“A school is just a school until life breathes on it”
And what life breathes on it?
The Holy Spirit.

A blog is just a blog until life breathes on it.
Imperfectly perfect lives will just be a mere blog, just like the rest, until life breathes on it.
If life doesn’t breathe on it, then people will come unto this site, thirsty to read something that will pierce them from the word and find nothing of the sort.
Without the life from God, readers will leave here empty just like I leave some churches empty without a word for my soul.

So just like I prayed that night, the prayer for this blog today is simple…and I would encourage you to please pray along with me as you read.

Lord, in this year 2015, let your life breathe on this blog.
For every soul that will come here, let them not leave empty.
I do not just want to sugar coat the words that you have put in me, let the words here on this blog convict souls unto repentance and inspire men and women to know more of you.

For every category on this blog, whatever it maybe, Lord breathe life on it.
Holy Spirit, take us deeper into you this year.
For wednesday’s rhema for today, show us more of you in your word.
For I the writer, for everyone else-the readers, do a work in our lives with the words here.

In 2015, take us deeper into you… More and more of you, fill us with more knowledge of you with every word on this site in Jesus Name, AMEN.

Love,

Frances.

PS-Afolabi the blog reader who stays in Ekiti, I’m still kind of church hunting, do you have any suggestions for me?

And uhm, I also pray that lots of people will be released today to not just read this post(and visit this blog “sometimes”) but to FINALLY be true blog readers and subscribers to this blog by entering their email in the box below 🙂

True, more and more churches favour financial prosperity and success than spiritual nourishment and development that could only be found in undiluted worship with the presence of the holy spirit. I hope you find your church and also be wary where you walk into…
As always I find a safe heaven in every words and pages I read on here.
Thank you for your prayers, may the Holy Spirit continue to led you..

This is one of the reasons I don’t go to church.
I feel like when I go to church I want to listen to what God has for me and I want to worship and feel Him.
I live in Lagos and I’m church hunting. I haven’t found a church where my spirit feels like it’s “home”

      Hey Deduramilade,
I realize that this issue on finding a church is a general one..I do pray about mine and I encourage you to do same.
And don’t sit at home out of frustration on not finding a church, you have to go out each and every sunday, till the Holy spirit leads you to one for you.
Meanwhile, I sent you a mail and made a suggestion on one for you.
I do hope and pray it’s what you need 🙂
Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome! 🙂

That’s one of the things that comes with moving to a new place… I’m sure you’ve been led to one by now.
I’m thankful that I prayed along, I also stand in the gap for my blog. God’s breathe has always been on or blog…only if u knew how many lives that has been positively touched through you.

Thank you for sharing your testimony. I hope that God will use you mightily to the church where He will send you. We maybe miss our old church, but let’s just always think that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours and surely we’ll always be in His right hand who will take everything under control. Keep sharing!
