The year began on high notes with lots of expectations.
Remember our âgreater is coming postâ? Woah! All revved up for âgreaterâ.
Itâs March 2014 now, do you still believe in greater?
Personally Iâve written and sent articles that were not published.
Iâve entered for a competition with big money at stake and wasnât even picked.
Iâve hoped for a miracle for my sister that seems like it wonât come to pass, even after the prayers, fasting, faith and a testimony written out already.
Iâve written two tests here in Law School, one was on entry into pro bono week that will be organised in April with an opportunity for those chosen to attend a course abroad and my name wasnât pickedâ¦
Iâve pondered and raved at no one in particular.
Iâve asked God and myself if I am really that dull. How can I say I am intelligent if I wasnât chosen? Why would almost everyone say I write really well if my article wasnât chosen for the competition and other works of mine have been turned down more times than I care to count.
Did I really hear God say greater or my ears were playing pranks on me?
What do you think?
Have you had cause to feel what I felt in the situations above?
Have you being turned down more times than you care to remember in your work place?
Has the greater marriage/relationship He promised arrived?
Are the testimonies rolling in or not?
I imagine you may also have been tempted to say things I was tempted to say like- âFor Heavenâs sake, where is the greater you promised Lordâ???
The reality doesnât align with the word!
But then I am thinking, whatâs really the reality?
The word or the situation?
A line from Jekalyn Carrâs greater is coming keeps ringing in my head and it says âmany are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord will deliver them out of them all because your greater is comingâ¦â
So what is our reality?
The afflictions or the word?
I have resolved dearies, I donât care what I see right nowâ¦
I donât care how many rejections I getâ¦
I donât care that the great ideas for the business isnât rolling in as it shouldâ¦
I donât care that the testimonies arenât coming on after the fastâ¦
I donât care that my work isn’t applauded, that it seems like I get the “not good enough anywhere I turn”â¦
I donât care that the man/woman, the God given spouse hasnât arrivedâ¦
I donât care about the thoughts in my head that tell me I am dull (which is so wrong by the way)â¦
THE WORD IS MY REALITYâ¦
Will you resolve same too?
Do you still believe what He told us?
He didn’t promise that there will b no hiccups on the road but He promised that greater will come, regardless of whatever it may be. And let us rejoice in the trials anyway, I don’t think there will be testimonies if challenges were not conquered.
The word is our reality, not the situation, not the afflictions, not the circumstances we see right nowâ¦
The word is our reality.
The word says greater is coming, He says He will do greater things with us, in us and through us.
Thatâs the word.
Thatâs our reality.
Step into this week with that mind-set.
And thatâs what we chose.
We chose His word for our reality.
Itâs still March, 9months to go. Itâs not the end of the year yet, greater is coming.
Itâs even here now.
Notice the “today I will begin” in the screenshot up there? It really has already begun.
Believe that greater is coming, it is here.
Hebrews 11; 1
âNow faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.â
His word is our reality.
PS- I had to re-read these two posts again, http://wp.me/p3W2rB-ac and  http://wp.me/p3W2rB-9o you can go through it too to stay on track, + I overdosed on Jekalyn Carr-Greater is coming+the word of God, ie, those on the “greater is coming post.
Letâs do this and make âthe wordâ our reality indeed.
Do download and listen to Jekalyn Carr’s Greater is coming… for some reason, I cant share the song here and oh, please do share this post too, hit it on twitter, Facebook and all, let’s lift someone up.
Have a blessed greater week loves.

Nice write up Frances. Been going thorugh the same thing and thoughts of given up comes to mind but His word gives encouragement from time to time. Things may not be happening now but surely there is hope for things to get better. Thanks for this.
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:20 pm
@Tope, yes, all things will end well, He makes all things beautiful in His time, by God’s grace and with a conscious effort, we will hold on to the word. Testimonies await..*hugs*

Hmmmm my sistah!!! I’ve been there!!! I would stay up studying all night in med school just to get a B but all the atheists in my class who turn every class debate into an opportunity to mock God would get straight A’s after partying the night away. I found consolation in Jeremiah, the part that says his plans for me are plans of good and not of evil. So let them have their course trips aboard and prize money, God’s plans for you stand firm and can not be shaken!!!
uchennaMarch 17, 2014 at 5:05 pm
nice write up as always sis.

Thank you Uche. As always, I appreciate your stopping by.*smiles*
glowingscenesMarch 17, 2014 at 6:18 pm
it happens o my dear. As in sometimes you might begin to ask yourself if you’re delusional. But I know something, The God that I serve, the beginning and the end, the one who says His WORD will be honoured than his name, the one who is on the throne and his word tells me the end justifies the means. That same God will put a new song in our mouth. He will put a new song in your mouth no matter what happens. Because he says in Psalm 46:
God is our refuge and strength
A very present help in trouble
Therefore we will not fear,
Even THOUGH the earth be removed,
ANd THOUGH the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea….
The End justifies the means okay? Though it tarries, it will surely come. Wait for it. For those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
I’m sure you know the rest. Be comforted.
Kisses and hugssss
glowingscenesMarch 19, 2014 at 8:34 pm
OmG!!! The end justifies the means is not in the bible, I meant to say The just shall live by faith and:
FOr surely there’s an end and thy expectation shall not be cut off
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:29 pm
Ah, “for surely there’s an end, and thine expectation shall not be cut off”..
Ah! That word has continued to work wonders in my spirit and will keep doing so. Worry not abt the “end thingy”, I am blessed by your comment dear and am sure all are too, thank you
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:27 pm
Thank you Itunu, I am encouraged by your comment and I believe others are too. Those scriptures you dropped here resound. We’ll keep speaking it, believing it and living it, indeed God”s word is our reality…thanks dear
praisegeorgeMarch 18, 2014 at 1:16 pm
Your articles were not selected, so what? It means absolutely nothing. It has NOTHING to do with the level of your intelligence. I have been through so many similar situations. I was once in a room full of writers for a special course. When they read their works-which I insisted on because I wanted to KNOW how good or bad I was-I discovered that my writing was probably the worst in the class.
Fastforward a few years later, none of those people can stand beside the works I have produced. We must remember that the race is not usually to the BEST writer, singer, architect, lawyer, doctor or engineer, etc.
The Lord sets us upon a path. It is our duty and responsibility to STAY focused on that path until the very end, no matter what.
I don’t know what ‘Greater’ means exactly, but I can safely say that The Lord is MORE interested in working ‘greater’ things in our SOUL than in any other area of our lives.
Someone once said that we overestimate what we can accomplish in one year but totally UNDERESTIMATE what we can accomplish in 5 years.
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:31 pm
Sir Praisegeorge, I have read your comment many times over and will still read it again.
All I will say is thank God for His wisdom he has put in you, thank you sir for your words, they resound deeply…
God bless you
E'March 18, 2014 at 5:38 pm
You know you will surely testify abi?
Cos I know
You haven’t seen the end of the book baby
I also love how u are always in touch with yourself and your life’s journey…
Such an enviable trait u have.
Remember me in your testimonies baby
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:32 pm
What I really want to do is hug you… The other comment that was unapproved + this one?? Ah *hugs, hugs, hugs*
God bless you E.
Going forward, still testifying…
E'March 18, 2014 at 5:43 pm
Ah Praise George I LOVE your last line
A lot of times we talk about getting five years result in 1 year which is of course VERY RIGHT BUT sometimes too, we look at the big picture
Amazing point Praise
praisegeorgeMarch 18, 2014 at 8:16 pm
Thanks E. Looking at the big picture has saved me from hitting my head against walls when what I really wanted to DO was to walk through open doors. Having a sense of urgency that ‘it must happen this year’ sometimes puts us under unnecessary pressure and we end up compromising our values.
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:35 pm
E,I ruminated over the last line of 1year and 5years pressure too. So true…
And praisegeorge dropped another too,”Looking at the big
picture has saved me from
hitting my head against walls
when what I really wanted to DO
was to walk through open doors.”..
Thank you sir, short of words really, I just keep repeating thank God for His wisdom in you here.
TomiwaMarch 18, 2014 at 11:59 pm

You’re welcome dear. How’s school going?

MayowaMarch 19, 2014 at 1:06 pm
This had me smiling. You know I have been told by a lot of people that I am a beautiful writer. A friend even said, “it must be God telling you what to write. Because nothing else can make one write so well.” I sent in an entry for a writing competition (maybe the same competition) and I got rejected. “The beautiful writer”… (What a joke). I have sent some stories to some mags and the likes and none have been published. I have a manuscript perhaps just sitting there at 2 publishing firms. (I got the tittle “its your life to lead” from commenting on one of your posts). You can imagine how discouraged I must have been. I got an unexpected word while doing my bible study. Funny enough, I wasn’t even going to read that passage. I was flipping through and then I saw it. “Behold, I am the lord, the God of all flesh :Is there anything too hard for me?” Jer 32:27. Sweetheart the word is our reality. I have learnt a long time ago that somethings happen because God wants them to and he wants us to learn something valuable that will be useful when we really need it. So you are still a beautiful writer. You are still a smart girl. You are still going places. You just have to trust him enough to take you on the journey he wants you to embark on and not the one you think is good enough for you. He has us no matter what and thank you for this post.
Sorry for the long comment.
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:23 pm
*hugs, tight hugs* @ you inthe. “God”s plans for us stand firm and can never be shaken”, at all. Thanks for using your experience to uplift a soul.
imperfectlyperfect92March 19, 2014 at 9:43 pm
Mayowa, firstly, take back your sorry for the long comment jare, your comment can only be God speaking through you to a heart in need of it.
Yes, we will hold on to the word no matter what, its the reality, not the rejections..and the rejections could even be God working on our soul..as trials build patience, patience builds experience, and experience hope…all making us perfect in our faith in Christ.
Its all leading us to where we should be, the expected end won’t be cut short regardless of whatever it seems like or what we see, feel or hear.
Thank you Mayowa.
MayowaMarch 20, 2014 at 11:44 am
No, thank you 🙂

I just stumbled on your blog and this your post has been an inspiration. Throughout this week, some terrible things have happened to me. For starters my laptop crashed and its a week to my final year defence, my final exams are coming up in two weeks and i am thinking what if i don’t graduate with my desired result? i hate my relationship with God, its so basic, most times i think i pray and He doesn’t listen or maybe i am not calm enough to listen.
Most times it easy to forget the scripture that says i know the thought i have towards you, thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. That’s my motivation. Will things get better, of course yes.. I wont just stop believing.
Thanks Frances.. you have a new follower!!!!!
imperfectlyperfect92March 26, 2014 at 10:17 pm
We will stick with God’s word, it never goes back to Him void, He says your expectation shall not be cut short, and yours concerning your result wont.
We pray for grace-grace to stick with God, to stick with His word through whatever may come, we can never go wrong with that..
and God does listen to you…He is with you ALWAYS….not sometimes ALWAYS…#Walk with that mindset.
E'April 22, 2014 at 12:05 am
Had a prayer session today that has inspired my post coming up today and it also reminded me of this post.
I should add a link of this post to mine.
Sounds plenty alike.
The two posts.
