So, you are probably tired of always having to hear that my writings on this blog are meant for me before it gets to you all…but I’ll keep saying it because it’s the truth.
Remember our last post on Entrepreneur’s corner asking us if we have planted?
Yep.
That post was meant for me. (Don’t get tired of my saying that yet, just get ready to see it being said a lot here 🙂
But before we get into the stories, let me say Happy New Week loves!
So, as I was saying, even after writing that post, I still didn’t plant.
*hands on face*
I seem bent on shattering every idea of perfection you guys have about me. I’ve shattered the fearless Frances here too but oh well… There you go, Frances isn’t the go getter that you think she is.
But this must be told.
I actually started planting, bought the goods I would need to sell for my business on monday last week but left them in my house for two days afterwards. *covers face*
I mean, I laid hands on them, kabashed and confessed financial prosperity on them but didn’t take them out of my house for two days!
It took supernatural intervention for me to start selling them.
I’m serious.
I woke up on wednesday with a Bible passage ringing in my head…
Proverbs 10:4
“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”
Actually, I woke up with the slack hand part of that verse ringing in my head and when I checked other versions, this is what I found…
“Lazy people are soon poor;hard workers get rich.” – (NLT)
OmG!
What exactly was God saying to me, that I am lazy?
But of course I am lazy!
Only a lazy girl buys goods for business, prays on them and then leaves them in her house for two days without taking them out to sell them.
I have some valid excuses for that but then, that’s all they would be – excuses!
I had declared the Word over my business and laid hands on the items but when the time came to take them out, I didn’t move a foot out of my house.
And that’s the one reason why so many of our businesses won’t prosper this year – because of laziness!
Because we are lazy!
Oh please, I’ve been there, made all the excuses but the Spirit still said that I was lazy, that’s why He gave me that verse.
The Word says that the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and addeth no sorrow…
But what does the blessing come upon?
On the works of our hands!
I thank God for pushing me out of my silly comfort zone with that scripture that morning (and as an aside, my praying and placing my goals to start up a business into God’s hands was the best thing I ever did)
It became a whole different ballgame with God guiding me and giving me the ideas I need.
He didn’t use quotes to push me up, He used His Word (and someone will say that the Bible doesn’t have everything needed for life in it… but I digress)
I’ve read books on Biblical financial prosperity this year because I wanted to be sure that I was anchoring my business and prosperity on God’s Word and ways.
Kenneth Hagin’s book on financial prosperity clearly pointed out that one of the reasons why God’s people don’t prosper is because they are lazy.
The biggest obstacle to our prospering in business isn’t the enemies in our villages…
It is just plain LAZINESS!
You don’t have the great job you prayed for yet?
Then go all out with the little thing that God has placed in your heart to do.
God will bless it.
But you must have a work in your hands first of all.
Proverbs 6:6-11 makes it clear on what we are to do about being lazy…
“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones.Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,a little folding of the hands to restâ then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.”
You can imagine both verses on being lazy running through my mind last week wednesday, it was enough to set me running out with my goods.
I didn’t need any extra push to go out there and work.
And I don’t know about you, but I surely don’t want poverty to come upon me as a result of my own fault.
The year is running already, if this post doesn’t call all the would-be entrepreneurs to action, then I wonder what will…
Do your part and fulfill your part of the deal for financial prosperity on the works of your hands.
Be diligent, learn from the ants if need be.
You don’t need anyone to flog you out from your comfort zone.
Drop the laziness in the bin where it belongs and go all out with your business ideas.
May this new week see us making some progress with our entrepreneurial goals and may God bless the works of our hands…AMEN.
I will be sharing lessons on “starting small” in the next post on entrepreneurs corner on the blog.
As always, I wish us all fulfillment of our dreams.
Till our next post, stay diligent and give God a work to put His blessings on.
Love,
Frances.
P.S – I heeded God’s voice oh, I finally started up my small scale business that same wednesday. Literally had the Word of God pursuing me in my spirit and as at this morning, I’ve almost sold all the first items I bought.
Ha!
Thank God for God!
And just because I want the message to sink in, let the additional passage below resound in your head…
Proverbs 10:5
” A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.”
I hope that we will all be wise youths.
P.P.S – This maybe out of point but I just gotta plug it in…

March 23, 2015 at 12:22 pmI have a target sum I want to meet so everymorning when I feel lazy to advertise, I remember d target needs to be met, n instantly I start working.setting a target helps minimize laziness
Frances Okoro
March 23, 2015 at 1:32 pmThank you for the tip Efe…
That’s true, having a set target is enough to get anyone up and running, basically because of the downside of not meeting your target..carryover business will be the result of the laziness..and there’s no need for that.

April 11, 2015 at 7:50 pmHey thanks for stopping by today. I set these unrealistic goals some times but remind myself that grace abounds when I am hard on myself for being lazy. I think striking a balance btw laziness and “grace” to cover laziness is good. LOL

April 13, 2015 at 1:27 pmOh Eniola.. thanks for stopping by..i guess grace does cover laziness sometimes but in my instance with business, there is no way it would have covered it.
I had to take the goods outside myself..but then, maybe the call to get proactive was actually grace speaking. I need a push and got it.
