Personal Memoirs

Love Conquers All!

Merry-Christmas-PicsI have never given you guys the full story about my family.
If you are an ardent blog reader though, then you might have found snippets of some write ups saying that my father and mother re-married again after 14years apart.
That testimony is one I have not fully written yet… Someday though, someday.
What most of you will see is JUST the testimony, no one else knows that the fact that God reunited your family does not mean that all the quarrels will disappear magically.
I understand that the family is one of God’s greatest asset to reach future generations for Him and satan will fight to see that this does not happen.

So we quarrel in my home.
My mom and dad still have fights…
We the kids and my mom still have fights…
In fact, we had one yesterday, just a day before Christmas day.
My mom had done the “indescribable” (in my eyes) to me and I was raving mad…

 Me and my mom

Me and my mom

But you know the deal about the voice of the Spirit of God? Bringing scriptures to you when you need them? (Which is why you shouldn’t joke with the word of God you read/hear… you don’t forget them, they always come back when you need them)
So, in the midst of my anger, I heard a scripture rolling in me – “A house divided against each other shall not stand”.
Now here’s the deal, God has told me that through me, my family will be saved.
Through me, there will be peace in my home.
So even if everyone else is raving mad, I cannot go all bonkers.
In my home, if I get angry, everyone else gets angry.
If I say, it’s okay, keep calm, let’s pray, everyone else does that (Some of us don’t know yet just how much power we wield in our homes, but that’s by the wayside).

Me and my babies..uhm, my sisters

Me and my babies..uhm, my sisters

So as I went on being angry…The Holy Spirit began to remind me of a Love Bible study we did in my home.
I started a family devotion in my family after Law School because I knew that God wanted us to raise our family altar to Him.
One of the first topics we treated was Love, 1Corinthians type of love… We did that before I even left for NYSC camp.

My elder brother

My elder brother

So the Holy Spirit started reminding me that Love is patient, love is kind, love doesn’t give up… Using that same devotion we did to speak to me.
And I was crying (when I’m angry, I cry) so as I was angry at my mom, shouting at her and crying… the Holy Spirit was saying that to me.
I was like what kind of love is that? She is this and that (I am this and that too, we can be so self-righteous sometimes.ugh!)
And a Scripture came in again…
“And God so loved the world that He gave…” – John 3:16

He gave Jesus… And Jesus is the exact reason why we are celebrating today.
He didn’t give Jesus for it to end there, He gave Jesus so that same love can be shed abroad in my heart.
If that love isn’t shed abroad in my family, then where else can it be shed abroad?

I wiped my eyes, tried to keep calm for a minute and finally rallied my siblings for us to pray for our home.(We had not done our family devotion yet and I insisted that come what may, we must study the word and pray, you’ve gotta know how slimy and sneaky satan is and beat him at it)
That God’s love will wrap us securely together.
We may not get it perfectly yet, but God is taking us somewhere.
I know my family’s testimony doesn’t just end with my mom and dad’s remarriage, God is going somewhere with this and His light will shine through this imperfect home at the end.

A day before the new year last year

A day before the new year last year

Do you get why I write about relationship and marriage God’s way now?
I get the whole deal about not involving God in your marital story, there’s simply too much heart ache in that kind of marital life…

So what am I trying to pass across with my family story to you this morning?
This season isn’t just for rice and stew.
This season isn’t just for Chicken.
Let the love of christ shine forth from your heart to others.
Let it start from your home.
Lay aside those petty grievances and let the Holy Spirit lead.
Listen to him when He speaks and let Him restore love back into your home and in your heart.
You see now that love isn’t just those mushy feelings?
Love is a decision to still be patient and kind even with tears in your eyes at the hurt you feel.
The God kind of love and that kind of love conquers all.

I love you all my blog family.
May the love of Christ shine through us all… Restoring and rebuilding every dented relationship in our lives in Jesus Name, Amen.

If you are in Warri and you are interested in spreading this love in you at the orphanage, a friend of mine is organizing a visit for her birthday this sunday, December 28th.

I will be there and if you are in Warri, please join us too.
You won’t regret putting smiles on the faces of those kids.

I would also love to send an E-copy of “Kenneth Hagin’s love, the way to victory” to everyone who needs it.
I think it will be of great help to us on how to love God’s way.
Just comment with your email below and I will send it to you.
Merry Christmas Loves

“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” – Luke 2:14

Because the creator was made the created, I am saved.

Because God Himself was humble enough to be carried as a baby in Simeon’s arms, I have the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Because of the wisdom of God which satan couldn’t foretell, I am blessed and have free acess to the Father.

Halleluyah!

Don’t celebrate this season without celebrating the reason for the season oh. Just don’t do that…

“And by the way, if you see the badass jollof rice, coconut rice, salad, peppered chicken and cake I made eh, I am still busy now, I will update later with pictures.hehe” – Bad girl! lol

This your elder brother…chooooiiiii!!! *case closed*

Back to the topic at hand, I almost choked on a tear when I read the line “…that He gave Jesus.” Most of us don’t realize what it means to give. It means to open oneself to attacks, criticisms, to be vulnerable yet with no expectation that the same measure of goodness will be received.

Family is just like that. We give…and give…until the enemy whispers in our ears that we haven’t been keeping a mental scorecard. Then we are reminded that God so loved the world that He gave…

Thanks for being vulnerable on your blog, Frances! 🙂

I think the biggest problem with us(with me) is that we think we have given and accepted too much slack from family(from others), so we feel that we can’t give anymore… but still, even with all that comes with giving…with the exepectatation of nothing in return, God still gave Jesus! I am forever grateful that He didn’t keep a scorecard and I pray that that type of giving in Love will be shed abroad in my heart also…

As for the food, wetin girl go do nah? Make we chop.lol.

My bro? Hehe, you said the case is closed, I won’t re-open it. 🙂

Merry Christmas Maggie, you know how I feel about ya(no homo, lol), just much love… 🙂

    Thank you for your openness…
Everyone else just seems so perfect

My parents marriage is a trial but I guess God has got His reasons for keeping them together.

I have seen couples who pretend to have it all together.

    Marriage is giving, giving, giving.
I refuse to enter it for the wrong reasons and without purpose.

I believe that God always has a plan and He has a good plan for my parent’s marriage too.

Frances, hang in there. The Holy Ghost is your greatest ally and the future is before Him as an open book.

Do send me Kenneth Hagin’s book.
    My email address is tessadoghor@gmail.com

I am glad to be connected to you. #LearningThings.

Thank you for your kind words..the Holy spirit is indeed an awesome ally. I can’t do nothing without Him.
And yes, God always have a plan for marriages He is involved in..always.

As for perfection? I know the only place that can be found is in God.i did away with finding perfection in my own self a long time ago…

      Will send the book soon.
