Romans 8.26-27
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Today’s study was a bit difficult for me to write on because I kept getting pulled on “direction and the will of Godâ but didn’t quite know what exactly He wanted me to say about it.
I was sieving my spirit all day and finally had to pray about it which I always do (or I admit that there are days when the Word rings in me so clearly, I don’t even have to pray much to get the rhema) but for today I had to pray and then be still for Him to get across what He wants me to say on this topic…
Has anyone else caught the season in the air?
It’s a season of people just getting awakened to the truth that they have to seek God’s will and plan for their lives.
I cannot explain it but everywhere I turn, I see one person or the other whose prayer right now is for God to give them direction as regards some certain aspect of their lives.
And funny, I am also in that season.
It is a constant prayer for me.
In fact, praying for God’s will to be done in my life has been a constant prayer point for me since my Pastor first opened my eyes to it last year. (I transcribed the message here)
I’m winding down from NYSC now and I find myself praying for direction every single day.
After the study on “Trust Me” though, I no longer pray with anxiety but with peace, certain that He has got me.
I have had filters of His plans for my life after this season coming in but it’s been in bits and pieces.
Sometimes I get all silly and wonder why it’s not coming in a rush like it did last year when I set myself to seek His will for my life after Law School. That was a week of God constantly speaking to me on plans. My journal and pen was flowing freely.. but this year has seen me jotting down the plans in bits and pieces which is actually okay because it just makes me rely on Him more and make me burrow deeper into His presence so I don’t miss whatever He is saying.
So let’s say give and take, I have been praying for God’s will and directions for some months now.
Some weeks I relent, some weeks it’s a constant “fill me with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding” flowing from my lips even as I go about my day to day activity.
I know how long I’ve been on this but I’m not certain about how long you have been on it.
But before I jump ahead of myself, I hope you do know that God has a will for your life?
A will for where you should live?
A will for where you should work?
A will for how your life should go?
I cannot go back to set that foundation in place as I have already blogged about it and transcribed Pastor Nathaniel Bassey’s message on it here and here before.

And now we can get unto what we have for today…
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been on the path of seeking God’s will for your life to be made known to you… what matters is staying fixed in the place of prayer and that was what I got in my heart when I prayed about what God wanted me to write for today’s study.
I hope that we all know that one of the best ways to pray for the will of God to be done in our lives is by praying in the Spirit… AKA praying in tongues.
Praying in tongues is a free gift that has been given to us believers that I am thankful for each and everyday of my life.
The more I read books and listen to messages that expatiate on this gift, the more I know that God did one of His most awesome jobs by giving us a way by which we speak directly to Him.
1 Corinthians 14.2
âFor he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.â
I remember speaking to a friend about tongues last year at Law School and he said “I don’t like praying in tongues, I like to know what I am saying to God”.
Then I had not really gotten the rhema on the benefits of praying in tongues but I know he was wrong because I had read 1Corinthians 14.
As an aside, please you can go on Youtube, search for Kenneth Hagin’s message on praying in tongues, the name save as prayer seminar on my phone. It would educate you further on the benefits of this free gift that has been given to us.
Now, why am I saying all this?
Because what I got in my heart was for us all who are seeking God’s will for our lives to take some time to pray in the Spirit today (and even beyond).
I have been feeling pulled to set aside 30minutes a day on this but I haven’t been too faithful as regards it but for today on the blog, I know deeply that it’s what we are to do.
Let’s Xray Romans 8:26-27
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
It says for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought…
We don’t know what to say exactly when we pray with our own mindsets. We may think that we know but we really don’t and so what does God do to remedy this situation?
He gives us the Spirit to make intercession for us and this Spirit makes intercession for us in harmony with God’s own will.
Meaning…
With the Spirit, we cannot miss it.
Pastor Nat would say “if you make a habit of praying in the spirit, your life will play out the will of God”.
And I have found that the Bible states that this is the truth.
Right after it says that the Spirit makes intercession for us in harmony with God’s own will, it goes ahead to say…
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
So we may not know what God’s specific direction for us is even as we seek His will, but if we would let the Spirit intercede for us, then ALL things will work together for our good on the path that God places us on.
Meaning that right now, at this moment, everything may seem a bit shaky, but if you have been letting the Spirit intercede for you, then all things will ultimately work together for your good.
I think this is a scripture to let sink into us when we are praying for God’s will to be done in our lives.
The truth of this word can settle you up in peace even as you continually seek God’s face.
He hasn’t told you what the next step is yet, but still, you have assurance from His Word that the next step can only end in good for you.
I do not think that I am meant to write much on this today.
I am simply led to ask us to turn this into a prayer day on the blog.
If this is your first time of encountering anything about the will of God for your life, then start from this post and come back here for us to pray together.
What’s our prayer point?
2simple things…
(1) Lord let your will be done in every area of my life.
Your will for where I should live.
Your will for where I should work.
Your will for my ministry.
Your will for my marriage.
Let only your will be done in my life.
(2) For direction: Lord fill me with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. (Colossians 1:9 and Colossians 4:12)
You can start praying in your own words but I encourage you, if you have the gift of speaking in tongues, switch into it.
If you read this study while you were at work, then you can pray all through the day when you can but basically I want us to also set out some time today, maybe when you are back home, anytime from 30minutes to 1hour depending on your strenght and blast away in the Spirit.
I will be doing same.
I pray that we all still continue in it even after today.
And when you pray, remember Romans 8:28 up there and don’t pray with anxiety.
Pray with gratitude and thanksgiving in your heart, knowing that it is settled.
God bless us all even as we set a little time to seek His face and direction today.

September 24, 2015 at 2:25 pmHi Tope, I believe you’ve gotten my mail?
I will still post my reply to your comment next week… I pray the truth and #light shines through to your heart in Jesus name, amen.
For now, of course, keep staying in the place of prayer even if it’s just your own words that’s in your mouth to pray.
*hugs and hugs*

That is the aim.
Thanks sis!
