Lessons From My Favourite Love Story 2

Happy bright morning dearies!

I hope you slept well?

I woke up with some lessons in my spirit on listening to God, I can’t reproduce it here but I tweeted it though, so if you haven’t followed me on twitter please do @Elegant_frances and check the tweets out. *smiles*

If you missed the first part of this series, please check it out here

The lessons continue…

I have being in Nigerian Law School Lagos since last year and one thing that’s seems like second nature to the so-called tushed up girls is terrible attitudes!

Like seriously, you talk to them and they look at you like you are scum, like you are trash.

I know this is not just peculiar to NLS girls alone as I’ve being a girl for as long as I can remember (lol) and I’ve been a recipient or maybe even a giver (hides face) of a terrible attitude. (Most times to the guy that attempts to toast me that I don’t like)

Terrible attitudes being meeting someone on the streets/workplace/conference/seminar/class and giving off vibes that repel, being rude, insultive/not offering a hand to help when it’s obvious that the nest person needs it and the almighty snubbing-no greetings, head and neck pulled high..(You can add yours)

And before I go on, let me say that guys aren’t left out too, I’ve met men for the first time who were simply manner less at that first encounter(for lack of a better word)

And it doesn’t pay at all, it doesn’t make us gbo gbo big girls/big boys…in fact we may (DEFINITELY) are missing a lot by displaying these silly attitudes.

And back to my favourite love story…

So Rebecca didn’t know the man standing by the well, the servant weary and dirty from his long journey… She could have ignored him and no one would blame her. After all she did not know him from Adam (like some of us say)..

But no, as soon as the man asked her to draw some water for him to drink, she immediately said “yes my Lord, have a drink” and went ahead to say she would also draw water for his camels too. Genesis 24:15-17

Now that simple statement Rebecca made connotes a lot.

Respect, hospitality, willingness to help who you don’t even know…

Turn that scene around for a minute, imagine if Rebecca was one of our modern girls today…

The man says please help me with a little money to get water, I don’t have change… and more often than not, you will see the lady sizing him up and down, concluding that he is a poor rat and then walk away.

Or like what’s more in vogue, simply ignore him and walk away, someone begging for water isn’t worthy of an answer…

And that was how Rebecca would have walked away from her God ordained man.

So what’s the gist of this whole matter?

Stop the show off/”I don’t give a hoot about you thingy.

Girls and guys, we can do without the attitude, which really isn’t what makes us big girls/guys…

It simply makes us manner less and uncultured with no good home training. And aint nobody gat time for such people these days.

Inculcate what Rebecca had.

Be ever willing and ready to help whoever you meet, it could be by helping with as little as 10naira or even a smile. Don’t hoard that smile for only the man in a posh car because you think he is a worthy suitor so you can be nice to him…

Smile to all, be accommodating to all…you never can tell. I know Rebecca couldn’t tell too.

The person you are snubbing right now could be your husband/the link to your husband as it was for Rebecca or he/she could be the link to greater things (not just marriage) for you.

Be ever willing to help, bless lives, and be nice, even to people you just met.

Remember, in entertaining strangers, some have entertained angels.

I know Sarah and Abraham did entertain angels and we can too, by dropping the unhealthy attitude.

Lord, help us all…Amen.

Love,

How much we have sacrificed on the altar of attitude!!!
A particular scenario always plays out for me on ladies and attitude
You walk into a building or close, you totally ignore everyone at the gate. Not even a simple ‘good evening’ or ‘well done ooo’. Then God help you, you enter the building and you can’t locate the exact office house or even main entrance to the place you are going to.
Then you now turn back and come and ask the same people you ignored……….
If they ignore you, that would certainly serve u right.
Happened to one airhead with a tosh load of attitude in school back then. And when she came back to ask, she logged her attitude with her. Let’s just end this by saying she ended up being beaten (she kinda asked for it) and I ended up laughing when I heard the story.
Gateman or not, a little courtesy can save you a lot abeg

      true true E.
I read somewhere that in a certain interview, the staffs stayed on specific areas of the building, pretending to be cleaners and the like, and watched for the candidates who just walked past without greetings/acknowledging their presence.
the attitude thing is huge, cuts across lots of aspects of our lives.
and babes like th e one in ur example that tush is snubbing people, too bad. a change is in order.
ps:i think my two comments on your last post are stuck on your moderation panel.approve am biko.lol

Great post, on attitude, very very important indeed. God exalts the humble and gives him more grace. This is truly one aspect we must daily improve on. Thanks dear…keep the lessons coming, they are inspiring.

Spot on!!! Nothing more to add.

Attitude is certainly 100% and when we allow God love through us, the love is not a function of the recipient (rich, poor, tall, short et al), it is simply who God is and since He lives through us, it is who we are. I am learning to check my attitude towards others, first for myself as a child of God, means I want to act like God and not for any benefits and next because it keeps me humble trusting God and realising the difference between me and anyone who isn’t as well off is grace and opportunity. I act simply because that’s what God would have me do.

true…and recognising what God will have us do and doing it is ultimately for our own good.’to show forth His light through us that others may see and even learn.’
we never can tell who our simple “goodmorning” spurs to become better attitude wise..
