It Is Time For The Church To Be Awakened From Her Slumber

On Monday I got together with an amazing sister of mine to pray based on some stuff she had shared on “The Women At The Well”.
And as we prayed and also prayed for God to pour upon us the Spirit of prayer and intercession…
And as we continued praying, a burden just suddenly filled my heart to cry out for God to awaken the Church again.
We just began to cry out for God to open our eyes to take our place as believers to stand in the gap once again.
Oh, we are wrapped up in things that don’t matter – wrapped up in shoes, wrapped up in bags… when souls, even souls that belong to our family are going to hell each day.
We are so selfish, we don’t see beyond our noses anymore.
We are filled with drama, disunity in the Church, springing up new doctrines and showing off our “superior knowledge” in the word in arguments when our prayer cover and prayer shield is down.
We sleep when God says “spend an hour in prayer”.
We complain when we feel tugged on to speak to a soul about Jesus.
We are losing our savour as salts and don’t even know it.

So as sisters in agreement on Monday, I and my friend just began to cry out for the Church to be awakened.
For us to see as God sees.
Oh we are in Nigeria and things are falling apart and we don’t even put it in our prayer lists.
They say the economy of the Nation is down and we join in complaints, instead of lifting up the Nation to God and declaring the Word over her.
Our families are being oppressed spiritually, issues are happening and we still sleep all through the night even when we feel led to wake up at 12am and pray in the Spirit.
Oh God, awaken your church!

This week, I have been praying for clarity on some things and I didn’t get clarity that way but got clarity and direction on different things that had me just feeling overwhelmed.
I have just been saying to the Lord, “help me”.
I feel like a small girl who has all these big visions flowing through her head and I don’t even know where to start from.
It has gotten so overwhelming, picking up my phone to type this study that God laid in my heart for today was a struggle. I had to lift up a prayer to God before I started typing which I always do but I did this one because I just felt like a small girl… who am I?
But my study this morning of the Word comes in here too which is the basis of this Word for today…

The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. The next day the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas, John, Alexander and others of the high priest’s family. They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
-Acts 4:1-3, 5-7 NIV

The believers didn’t let the circumstances force them into living timidly, they went unto their own and they raised up their voices in prayer.
I noted in my journal, “are we praying as a church today? Are we indeed praying?”
This is where our revival lie; a praying church – a praying family – a praying group – a praying woman – a praying pastor.
The help I seek in doing what God wants me to do – fresh fire – boldness in speaking the word – deliverance from oppression and opposition – it’s all gotten in prayer.
Strength and grace – it’s all gotten in prayer.
And with all that’s been happening in this time, I concluded and I know it’s the right thing to say/do… ITS A SEASON OF PRAYER.
Dear brothers and sisters.
We have been sleeping for too long.
I’m sorry but fashion isn’t what will pull us over right now.
We need men and women who can get on their knees and pray!
Men and women who can meet up and raise their voices to the one and only sovereign Lord.
See our Nation, see all that’s happening and we are still sleeping?
If you are very sensitive and have a walk with the Spirit, I am sure you have been feeling tugged on over and over again in recent times to pray… yes, it’s a season of prayer.

In our ladies group, the prayer season is all up in the air and as ladies just growing in God, we are doing our best to heed the call.
Now I want us all, to heed the call to war on our knees.
Today’s post isn’t a time for plenty plenty talk.

Would you heed the call to pray by 6pm today wherever you are?
I love setting a time for prayer because though I pray through the day, I can also just set my face to seek God/dedicate a particular time to Him.

If you can and I sincerely hope you will, by 6pm today, either for 30minutes minimum to an hour, stay in the gap for people.
Intercede for Nigeria, ask God for mercy and healing of our land.
Intercede for your family, pray for hedge of protection to be around them.
Intercede for Christians world wide, pray for unity, pray that we would not be pulled away by false doctrine, pray for God to raise men and women who will establish His kingdom on the earth, pray that you will be one of those men/women…
Pray that we will be filled with an intense desire to know God and know His Word.
Pray for insight and increased knowledge into the things of God.
Pray for yourself, that your faith will not be shaken in these times, pray to stay strong in trials.
Pray a lot in the Spirit too and let God lead you to intercede as He will.

I am learning to lend my voice more and more to prayer and very soon, I would be looking for prayer points all over to intercede on.
That’s the point I want to get to.
God answers prayers brethren, if there are men to pray, our Father’s ears are open to our cry.
6pm today.
Please pray and everyday afterwards, continue to intercede this season.

For those who are perhaps confused on this issue of prayer, you have some questions on what to pray for, how to overcome laziness, the flesh, etc, please comment with them below or send me a mail at okorofrances@gmail.com
We will see how we can answer those questions on an “Online Bible Study request” on the blog.
Anything to get us all to heed the call to war the only way we know how to do in this season…

I pray that our knees be strengthened and our hands not slacken in Jesus name, amen.
Till our next Online Bible Study,
Love,
Frances.

Gosh Frances this is what is needed now! It’s true some of us are falling asleep … We need to go on our knees and pray. I think there was something I heard on the radio about traditionalists requesting to build a temple … not sure how true that is. Let’s rise up and pray. The battle is getting hotter.
