How I Discovered My Purpose

I have been getting some questions on “purpose” recently but even before the the questions, this post has been ringing in my heart.

#PurposefulMondays is a category on the blog where everything we share is aimed at inspiring you to walk in God’s purpose for your life.

 

So this is what God says in Jeremiah 29:11

 

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

And also in Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5 ESV

The uncontroverted truth is that God has created each and everyone of us with a purpose we should fulfil in Him. And this purpose was set even before we were born.

This truth is not in doubt.

But the reason why so many people are confused about how to go about this purpose deal is because they are going about it the wrong way.

 

Here’s the deal the world doesn’t tell us:

YOUR PURPOSE CAN ONLY BE FOUND AND FULFILLED IN GOD.

 

You cannot find purpose in anywhere or anything else.

Yes, your gifts, passion and talents point the way you should go but without God it is all pointless.

Why?

Because IN HIM we live and move and have our being.

What does IN HIM mean?

Exactly that… you have to be in Him to be able to do anything with Him and for Him.

 

Now if you haven’t read my salvation story, you can do so here.

You see, I gave my life to Christ in 2011 wanting nothing but a saviour to rescue me from the life I had been living.

Jesus was and is that saviour who gave me hope when I had none.

I grasped His hand for a life line and didn’t want to let go.

I started spending time with Him and just loving up on Him and all of a sudden He said He had work for me to do.

And wowzer… books! I am a scribe for the Lord.

Wowzer. .. Speaking engagements.

 

You see..

When I came into Jesus.. IN HIM.. suddenly the me I am inside was unlocked!

It sas surprising and still is surprising.  Especially as I thought I had nothing good inside of me.

But no, it only had to take remaining in Jesus for my light and purpose to come forth.

 

And it is the same for us all.

There is no purpose outside of Christ… if you are just following your passion and gifts and enjoying what you do outside of Him you still aren’t fulfilling purpose.

Or maybe you are fulfilling the path you have set for yourself and truth is all what you have built in your name and for yourself cannot stand the test of time.

True purpose is God’s purpose for our lives and to discover purpose, we must discover Jesus.

And to fulfil purpose we must remain in Him.

Discovering purpose all comes right back to IN HIM.

Are you in Him?

That’s the first step.

If you are then congratulations.

As you continue to walk with Him, dig deeper into Him He will show you just what your gifts, talents and even your job is supposed to fall into the grand scheme of what He has for you to do.

Don’t get anxious about what He wants you to do for Him.. BE IN HIM first of all.

He can do the same with you.

Just pray this prayer below..

Father… I thank you for sending your son to die for my sins. 

I haven’t lived in a way that recognises your sacrifice for me on the cross. I am sorry Lord 

Please forgive me.

Come into my life and heart Jesus. Come and reign therein.

Be my saviour and my Lord. Holy Spirit come dwell in me. 

Thank you Lord for saving me. In Jesus name I have prayed.  Amen.
