#ChristianFiction: THE BLOOD

He was having a fitful sleep; Amaka had come again in his dreams and this time she was irresistible. Amaka was the lady at his office with an ample bosom and a supple body. He had been lusting over her for months and she didn’t make it any easier. She wanted him as much as he wanted her but that was just the thing; he couldn’t have her. He knew he couldn’t have her so he had resorted to using thoughts of her as an elixir before he went to sleep.

He still had memories from back in the days when he used  to fantasize about women in his head so he could masturbate to thoughts of them but that was over. He was born again now with a calling of God on his life. He can’t afford to masturbate so all he wanted to do was to just fantasize about Amaka to cool himself down even though he can’t have her… and the plan had been working.

Chinedu had had a pleasant past three days just undressing Amaka in his mind as he went to bed; nothing could happen. He was strong enough to let it end there.

…. and then it happened!
He had gone to bed as usual thinking about Amaka’s body… only this time he couldn’t control the thoughts. The thoughts continued unbidden in his dreams.
He saw her in all her beauty and suppleness; she kept calling to him in his dreams.
He loved it.

“…Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell.”

What was that he was hearing?
Coming through the haze of beautiful Amaka’s body?

He hovered between dream like state and real life for a minute, unwilling to wake up and cut short what he was seeing…

“For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is  smoother than oil;..”

He woke up with the words running through his heart but along with them, he had an unusual sexual urge. In the heat of the moment, before he even thought about it, his hands moved to do what he had always done years before he met Christ. He relieved himself. He fell. He fell.

And suddenly the haze of lust and Amaka’s body cleared from his eyes.
He looked for tears but couldn’t find any. He wanted to say he was sorry but his lips couldn’t form the words. Almost immediately he felt a disconnection from the Spirit. He laid in the darkness afraid to call any of his godly friends and afraid to call on Jesus. He cried till he slipped into another fitful dream.

This time he was standing in a court.
His hands were shackled. He was standing in front of a man who was in the form of the son of God.
The man sat at the right hand of another on the throne whose face he couldn’t see. They were clothed in radiant light and glory.

Right beside him stood the accuser of the brethren. He had darkness oozing from him. He couldn’t explain it but even when that one smiled, the aura he gave off was still deadly.
That one – the ancient enemy of the saints smiled again as he looked at him.

The court session began…

“satan…” the one who sat on the throne began, “From where do you come?”

The accuser of the brethren answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

satan stopped for a minute to smile at Chinedu and continued, “I have also been holding out at Chinedu’s house. Did you know that for the last one month Chinedu has been lusting over a very beautiful lady called Amaka? The lady belongs to me and has been my faithful follower for her entire life even though she does not know it.
You know you said in your word that any man who lusts after a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Chinedu did that.
But then Chinedu thought he was smarter than I so he didn’t touch Amaka physically but resorted to touching her in his mind.
Last night my special messenger of lust was sent to his dreams. He worked a good work on Chinedu and by the time he woke up he had to have fun with himself”.

Chinedu’s head dropped even as tears rolled down his eyes. He couldn’t chance a look at the Son of God sited at the right hand of the One on the throne.

satan continued…

“You require a holy vessel to do your work and cannot use a vessel that has been tainted. You cannot behold iniquity.
I hereby move a motion for Chinedu’s calling to be taken away from him and for him to never be reinstated again for as long as he lives.
Remember when Eli and his sons sinned against you, you cut them off from the house of priests forever. If you do any differently to this man you would be an unjust judge…”

Chinedu chanced a look then at the Son of God. In His eyes was a sorrow so deep Chinedu wept afresh. He saw no condemnation in His eyes; only a deep pain that mirrored the one Chinedu was feeling in his heart.

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

Everyone in the court was looking at him. The winged creatures attending to the One on the throne stopped in midair to watch what the Lord will do.

He looked back at the Son of God. He seemed to be wanting to pass across a message to him with His eyes. All of a sudden on the inside of him he heard:

“… for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

He couldn’t make sense of it; he didn’t know what it meant. And again the words were repeated with an urgency…

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb..”

Who was speaking?
The voice was so loud he was startled for a minute.

And again he heard:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—  the Spirit of truth…”

Oh… he lifted up his head to the heavens in appreciation of the Holy Spirit. Jesus meant what He said; he will never leave you.

Now again the Spirit repeated:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb..”

satan watched him, impatient this time from waiting for him to speak for so long.

“What do you plead? Guilty or not guilty?”

The words reechoed in his mind..

What do you plead?
What do you plead?
What do you plead?

The accuser of the brethren asked again: “guilty or not guilty”.

Chinedu said a prayer in his heart asking Jesus to forgive Him.

“Oh Lord I have sinned against you. I trifled with sin and gave a place to satan. I thought I was wise. I was being crafty in evil. Please forgive me. Forgive me Lord”.

No one heard his voice but when he looked up again he saw the Son of Man nodding his head at him and smiling in a way that made his heart come undone.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

The look of love in Jesus’ eyes brought him to tears again.

satan smiled his evil smile gauging from his fresh tears that he now knew how helpless he was. Oh he knew that he had laid his case so well. He didn’t know what this one would do for the Kingdom of God exactly but they had too many blows from others with callings like him so far, they didn’t need more. Incapacitating him would bode well for his work.
He was glad in his heart.

Again he shouted to intimidate the young man the more, “what do you plead? Guilty or not guilty?”

Chinedu stood straight up, sure that the Father had forgiven him…

“There  is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,…”

Chinedu found his voice: “none” he replied.
“I plead the blood!”

As soon as he said that the atmosphere in the heavens changed.

Lightning began to strike from the throne of the One who sat in unapproachable light, whose face he still couldn’t see.

The cherubims paused again at midair.

satan shrank back down a bit further from him.

Chinedu shouted again: ” I plead the blood!
I do not know anything about being guilty or not guilty. I enter a plea for the blood!
I plead the blood!
I plead the blood of Jesus Christ!”

All of a sudden there was a flurry of activities in the court room!

The angels threw themselves down on the floor and they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

Then again I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Suddenly he saw satan on his knees too.

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

satan was kneeling too. He couldn’t remain standing under the manifest presence and the name of Jesus.

For a long time there was silence in the courtroom after the song from the angels and creatures.

He had since fallen on his knees. He felt a hand on his shoulder bidding him to stand. He stood to see liquid love flowing through the eyes of Jesus.

Jesus took his hands and he saw the One whose face he couldn’t see nod.
And Jesus said, “my blood speaks better things than the blood of Abel. My blood cries out for mercy, forgiveness, cleansing, sanctification, and my blood redeems”.

He held Chinedu’s face between his palms and smiled into his eyes.

“Chinedu you are forgiven and reinstated. Go and sin no more”.

Chinedu woke up from his dreams in a pool of tears and sweat.
He promptly knelt down at the side of his bed crying out from gratitude in his heart.
All he could say repeatedly was “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”.

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”
