Awakening Youths

Awakening Youths 2015 Begins…

Hello everyone!

So our first #AwakeningYouths event for the year was held last week!

And this is me giving us the details on it like I promised to do on our blog plans for 2015 post.

Where do I start from with this though?

Of course with God.

I got home after the event and I was thinking “God you are awesome. Who would have thought that this broken girl of years past could be used for you in such a way”

I don’t know about you but God’s goodness blows me away anytime I think of it.

Like seriously, why would He pick out a flawed girl like me and say He wants to use me for His purposes?

But I’ve learned that He just loves me.

He just loves us and uses us not because of anything we do, He just loves us… So yes, deal with it 🙂

Anyways, the event kicked off pretty well.

We had three segments, one on career and academic aspirations which a learned colleague of mine spoke on,

Daniel speaking to the students

Daniel speaking to the students

one on purpose in life which I spoke on

Frances speaking to the students

Frances speaking to the students

and one on skill acquisition in which the facilitator spoke on the essence of acquiring skills and also taught them how to make “liquid dish washing soap”.

Skill acquisition..

Skill acquisition..

It all went well, except I think that the teachers learnt more from the skill training than the students. We will have to look for a way to perfect this session in subsequent seminars.

I had proposed to speak to only the girls but the teachers wanted the boys to be carried along so we spoke to both the boys and girls.

The students also acted a drama on a script I wrote for them.

The drama

The drama

The drama was basically saying to them that now isn’t the time for relationships and all but now is a time to develop ourselves and find out what God has for us as a youth.

To grow and impact the world positively before we leave.

I am thankful because I know that seeds have been sown in these young hearts and when they need it, it would come out of them.

We also had some students coming to us for counsel and I thank God for their openness and some of these young ones are so confused.

If you are a youth with wisdom and you have teenagers in your compound or something, you can try to draw close to some of them and be there for them. (I speak to myself too)

Some of them are in need of guidance but have no one to talk to and according to them, they don’t always have seminars of this sort in their School.(The need for #AwakeningYouths Events)

With the teac

With the teachers

My friend who went with me to the School was so touched by some of their stories that he had to write on it.

We will be seeing what he has to say here on the blog next week.

But all in all, I am thankful.

And I don’t know if the persons will be okay with saying their names here but for my sponsors, those who allowed themselves to be used by God to help financially, I appreciate you.

With all my heart, I say God bless you all.

So one #AwakeningYouths event for the year done, more to come by God’s grace.

#WalkingInPurpose.
