In the midst of the Holy Ghost filled atmosphere, something/many things caught my attention and one of them was her.
A little kid, a little girl, not more than 6/7 years old, speaking into the atmosphere like the pastor said we should, walking around and praying in the spirit. I could tell that she knew exactly what she was doing and for the one hour plus we stayed there, she wasnât tired, she did not sit down, she kept praying⦠and I kept staring at her and prophesying into my future.
I think we have to
understand, we have to really understand why this whole marriage thing is bigger than usâ¦
We have to understand why Abraham was very emphatic about Isaac not marrying a Canaanite woman.
We have to understand one of the reasons why God doesnât want us to marry outside the fold of Christâ¦
Malachi 2:15⦠âDidnât the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are His, and what does He want? Godly children from your unionâ
Weâve got to understand that itâs more than us. God also wants us to raise the future generation who know God.
You are still confused about choosing/going along with Godâs choice for your marital future? Worry no more; be confused no moreâ¦this whole thing is bigger than us.
Ever wondered about Isaac? Donât you think He was way stronger than Abraham and could have escaped from being tied on the altar as a sacrifice if he wanted to? After all, Abraham was old.
But Isaac didnât run away, he allowed Abraham to lay him on the altar as a sacrifice. I think for a son to do that, it means Abraham and Sarah must have been grooming him in the way of the Lord. Abraham had taught him about obedience to God and itâs the same thing God wants from us…
He wants the future generation to be men and women of God, standing for Christâ¦
He wants us to raise Godly seeds, which wonât be possible or will be manifestly hard if we chose to marry that man/woman that doesnât know God.
If we chose to be unevenly yoked then it will be hard, really hard to raise the next generation God wants.
Can two walk together except they be agreed?
I wrote on my BBM status on Tuesday- âPlace them side by side, one is fun loving like you, he is adventurous, he has swag, he doesnât know God and does nothing for your spirit.
One is dependable, a family man, a leader through and through, prays for you and with you, refreshes your spirit when you are with him, loves not just you but loves God like crazyâ¦.chose rightly, use your headâ
For me, I donât want to miss it.
I want someone to stare at my 6year old kid blasting in prayers just like I stared at that kid in church and be inspired to marry right and raise Godly seeds too.
I want my kids to know God right from their tender age like Isaac did.
I want it badly enough to not marry outside of the fold of Christ.
I hope you make the right choice too.
God help us all.
Uhm, I am still considering running Fridayâs love letters (like Maggie called it) on my blog, thoughts of a single Christian girl on relationships and marriages, but I almost did not post this. Time is running short and shorter. I am even âfeeling somehowâ at the time I am using to type this instead of reading⦠So yes, I will still run Mondayâs inspirational drive and Fridayâs love letters here but if my posts trickle to a stop, just know I am off and I will be back in August.
Have an awesome weekend ahead.
*Love,
Frances.

June 13, 2014 at 1:24 pmAh, I better start a business haha! Thanks for this post.
I never understood the reason behind my grandma’s favorite prayer “You won’t marry someone else’s husband until I got entangled in a relationship that refused yield to reason. I had to pray to “un-like” the person, if that makes any sense at all. As in, “ahn ahn, feelings you gotta leave me alone now. I don’t want to catch you anymore.” Lol
No really, marriage is a mystery. As much as it is interpersonal and *insert counselors’ jibberish*, it is also spiritual. Bring on the Friday love letters, Frances! 🙂

June 15, 2014 at 8:21 amWonderful write-up!!!
I admit I thoroughly want kids who know at age 6 what I learned at age 16.
As it turns, being unevenly yoked with an unbeliever isn’t enough. Even not being unevenly yoked with a believer is something worth considering.
I was approached by a Christian brother once, who I discovered later had almost zero (0) thirst for God and didn’t quite understand the business of being in close personal fellowship with God.
That kind of believer, given the right tutelage can grow in the knowledge of God and get right but as of I his present stage, he shouldn’t even be considering marriage because a man who would learn the things of the spirit would best do it on their own.
They must have personal victory in this matter, or at least a thirst for it before heading into marriage. If the foundation of marriage be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
I also don’t believe that a believer who isn’t in tune or in submission to God can actually get his spouse right, because their priorities become twisted.
God help us all!!!

Thank you soo much for this indepth comment..truly, the deal is not getting someone who goes to church, in a unit, etc,etc..but someone who loves God,has a personal relationship with Him and it isn’t all religion at the end, it’s whether they know and love Jesus…
Like you said,God help us all

June 16, 2014 at 2:30 pmThat was beautiful. Just as I was about to go to sleep last night God said to me, with regards to one of the signs that He will show me when He introduces me to my future husband is that he will not just have the skills to be a Godly husband but that he will have the skills to be a Godly father and minister over our home. Then reading this right now really made me appreciate the necessity of being equally yoked.

July 4, 2014 at 12:06 pmWow. That 6year old has got to be ma kid!
I am greatly moved by DEEP spirituality especially in a future spouse. A family that prays together stays together.

July 17, 2023 at 2:35 amWhew! You are so right! The LORD constantly reminds me that marriage is so much bigger than me! He won’t let me settle until it’s the person of His choosing, and a lot of it has to do with the offspring that will come from the marriage. I can’t wait to meet them and see how the Lord uses them!
