And Sandals Were No Hindrance…

Hello Dearies!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful day so far?
Just popping in to share something I learnt today, just incase someone needs it.
Err,I may seem vain by this o,don’t judge me.hehehe.On my way to Church today,I updated my BBM PM to;
“The Church is not a place where you go to show off your new clothes or spy on cute guys, its a place you go to for an encounter with God himself.go with this mindset and you’ll come back a different you”

My people, little did I know that I was actually speaking to myself.
I wore a gown and sandals to Church all in the name of dressing down.
To me I looked really good when I saw myself in the mirror o,but as soon as I stepped into the Church, all the “feel good” I felt all disappeared into thin air!

Everyone I saw wore either a low-heeled shoe or high-heeled “tushed” up shoes.
And there I was, standing in my once before look good but now “wowo”,ugly sandals.kai!
I felt pretty uncomfortable and as a matter of fact,I wanted to go back to my room and change, you know,to look “tushed” up too.
I am ashamed to say,but it was during praise and worship session and yes,I was willing to miss it and go back home so as to look tushed up(covers face,I am vain ba?)

I was almost going back to change o,I nor go lie to una in a bid to look like a serious Christian.
But…
I heard a voice,(or people will say something told me)no,the Holy Spirit whispered to me:
“Does God really care whether you worship Him in Sandals or shoes?”

I mean,we all know that David a man after God’s own heart danced till he was almost naked while praising God when the ark of the Lord was being returned back to Jerusalem.

Praises like no other

Praises like no other

And what was his response when Michal spoke to him with contempt because of this?
David said;”I was dancing before the Lord…and I am willing to look even more foolish than this even to be humiliated before my own eyes!”(2Samuel 6:21-22)
And no,God didn’t despise David’s praise because he wasn’t praising him with the expensive robes that kings wear.

So,Right there during praise,I started thinking about this.
It is good to look all “tushed up” to Church, after all,if we can dress well for an ordinary occasion, why not also dress elegantly to come to worship our glorious God?
But really,I thought to myself;
“Frances, you are seriously contemplating going back to the hostel and missing out on praises to God in Church because of high-heeled shoes?
Who are you really here to worship Frances?
You think God cares about whether you are well made up or have perfect penciled eyebrows or whether you have shoes or sandals on?
Come on!
God sees what man cannot see.
THE HEART OF WORSHIP,that’s what He is interested in.”

I was taken back to my BBM status,It was also meant for me.
I wasn’t going to change back to high-heeled shoes because I wanted an encounter with God,I wanted to change to show off,fit in,and appear elegant in the eyes of men.
Indeed,Whatever God leads me to write,I am also meant to learn from it.

Well,I joined worship session back o,connected to the rhema in the RCCG,spoke in heavenly language and praised my Beautiful Father like no man’s business and I can tell you that He certainly didn’t care whether I was in high-heeled shoes or not.

I really felt blessed today in Church and no,Sandals were no hindrance.
Lesson learnt!

PS:David is one of my favourite persons in the Bible,so much so that I am planning to name one of my future son after him(if the oga go gree)the guy just dey trip me abeg.
Anyways,I did a post on him before, you can check on it here–> http://imperfectlyperfect92.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/

I can totally relate. Today I have learned to be most comfy in my Sugar daddy’s house so long as my spirit is dressed to receive. .

I believe there should be balance. The key will always be the heart, soul and spirit of a person. To the mature Christian I say the manner of dress should be respectful where we do not become a stumbling block or distraction to others attending service
