A Sneak Peek From My Upcoming Book

Hello dears, I hope you had a great weekend?

So of course, since I am a darling, I thought to give you guys a preview of my upcoming book.

I have lived out each step of my upcoming book “10 Steps To Walking In Purpose” and I am basically at this step of “Launching Out Into The Deep”.

This is actually the last step in the book – it’s a bonus step after the basic 10steps… one of the steps you will definitely need to tread when you decide to step out into what God has called you to do.

So read it below and I pray everyone who desires to walk in purpose draws strenght from it.

For the full book… hold on… it will be live on thursday 🙂

LAUNCH OUT INTO THE DEEP

I was hit by a pretty bad state of chills a few days after the first draft of this book was sent to my editors. And despite the good reviews, I still wasn’t satisfied.
Something kept niggling at me.
What if no one buys the book?
What if the words actually turn out to be nothing worth reading?
What if this whole thing ends up being an epic fail?
How can a book that’s less that 60,000 words make a change in any life?
Why don’t I have high sounding words bursting through my fingertips?
Why are my words so simple?
What happens after I release the book?
Who even says that the book release will be a reality?
And on and on my thoughts went…

It didn’t help that I was also asking God for direction on some certain things which I had not gotten answers for and so I felt absolutely clueless about the path of purpose that lay before me.
The only thing I could see was the step God had placed before me “right now”.
I could see no farther than that.
My human mind said…
Everyone just might say your words were all trash.
What if it all flops?
Well, faith says it cannot flop because God is in it.
And I thank God for His Spirit in us. He was my anchor all through the process of getting this book to come to life.
The Spirit totally countered the wrong thoughts that were filtering into my head with the Word’s truth.
And here is what I realized and what we all should realize in this path of purpose:
No one ever has a clear vision of what God has called them to do.
We may have a leading – an inkling – a sense of direction, but the clear path that leads all the way to the end is never made known to us at the beginning of our journey.
And that’s actually a good thing.
If the path of purpose is made clear to us from the beginning, then there won’t be a need to walk in faith which is truly the only way by which we live in the kingdom of God.

God says, “I will show you just the step in front of you right now, but I cannot show you the whole staircase just yet, you have to simply trust that I will reveal the whole staircase to you in my own time”.

So what do we do with the one step He has shown us?
Cower in fear? Or step out in faith?
I can only give you God’s answer on this:
Trust Him and step out into the step that you see right now.

Now let’s look at a passage God used to speak to me on this issue of stepping out into what He has called us to do.
“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, LAUNCH OUT INTO THE DEEP, and let down your nets for a draught.”
–Luke 5:4-11, KJV

I love the fact that Jesus said “launch out into the deep”.
The physical deep can be seen here to mean the sea but in the walk of purpose, you can call it “the unknown”.
Jesus said, “launch out into the unknown and cast down your net (what I have sent you to do) so you can catch a draught (have an abundance of reward).

But here’s what Peter replied and what we all say sometimes too…
“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing…”

Most of us immediately give excuses like Peter when we get a directive to launch out into the deep.
But thankfully, Peter didn’t end there; his next words are instructive for us too.
“…nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

I believe that Peter’s statement above should be our reply to every instruction we receive from God.
We should be able to say “Lord, I don’t see anything in the deep you want me to launch into, but nevertheless, since you have said it, I am launching out into the deep”.

The reward for obeying God’s word to us is usually impossible to quantify.
Here’s Peter’s reward for launching out into the deep at God’s word.
“And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.”

Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing but at the word of Jesus, he caught fishes that were so much, it almost sunk two ships!
We never can tell what lies on the other side of our obedience to God’s directive.
God may not let us see what He has planned for us but we can be certain that awesome rewards lie at the other side of launching out into the deep.
Not just rewards in the form of material possessions but also in the form of elevation in ministry/our God-given purpose.

Let’s go back to Peter…
“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.”

Peter and the others with him were so amazed at the miracle they got from obeying Jesus’ words. So also are people connected to us amazed at the works of God in our lives when we obey Him.

And then Jesus told Peter, “Don’t be afraid, this miracle is just in the area of fishes, but from today, I will make you a fisher of men”.
Peter got automatic elevation into ministry all because he obeyed the words of Jesus to launch out into the deep.
And we all know what God made of Peter afterwards; the fisherman became the bold one for Christ Jesus, testifying of Jesus everywhere he went – a great instrument for the advancement of the kingdom.

You can never step into what God has in store for you unless you obey the initial command to launch out into the deep – a deep that you may not know where it leads to, but you are content to let Jesus know all the details.
You just obey and launch out into the step He has shown you.
There is a direct correlation between our stepping out into the step we see before us and our stepping into the revelation of other steps still to come.
God cannot release babies into His vineyard, and it is in each step we take, that He builds, molds and refines us into adults ready to tackle the bigger steps He would place before us.
The only thing that holds us back from taking the step we see right now is simply a bad case of chills, such as the one I had before I published this book.
But God has made me see that where fear and doubt prevails, He isn’t there.
If we would learn to fix our eyes on Jesus and not on our feelings (which more often than not represent only lies), then we would step out with all God has placed in our hearts to do.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. WE DO THIS BY KEEPING OUR EYES ON JESUS, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin…
So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.
Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.”
–Hebrews 12:1-4 & 13, NLT

We cannot fix our sights on ourselves or on our feelings in the walk of purpose; any other place that we fix our sights on aside from Jesus will draw us away into the realm of doubt, fear and discouragement.
We may never see the entire staircase God calls us to walk on but that’s okay.
We see Jesus and that should be enough for us.

So don’t wait till you have gotten absolute clarity on what God wants you to do before you step into it.
If all He has shown you right now is to walk in purpose right where you are, then step out.
Don’t hide behind the excuse of “I don’t see where it all ends”.
You aren’t meant to see where it all ends anyway.
You didn’t plan the course of your journey and destination, God did.

Sometimes we keep waiting for the spark of big things… the great number of persons that God will use us to impact positively but that isn’t what purpose is all about.
We keep crying ‘Lord use me to touch lives in amazing ways.’
But that isn’t where purpose begins.
Purpose begins from the life that is directly in front of us.
If God says minister to that one life, then do it.
If He says “this is the only thing I want you to do right now”, then do it.
As you step out and stay faithful in the path He has shown you, He will open up more paths to you.

So launch out into the deep.
Step out in faith while you fix your eyes on Jesus, the only One who can see you through your purpose in Him.

  • WISDOM NUGGETS:
Start where you are. Start with what you have. Everywhere that the Lord orders your feet through, is for purpose.
  • Quantity does not birth purpose; Obedience does!

  • REFLECT AND DECIDE:
Are you letting any worries or concerns hold you back from stepping out into what God wants you to do?
  • Identify your worries and lay them all bare, in sincerity of heart before God.
  • Talk to your Father and tell Him that you choose to step out in Him anyway, looking away from your concerns to the example that He has set for you to follow in Hebrews 12:1-4
  • Every time worries about your walk in purpose bugs you, fix your thoughts and heart on Jesus and not on your worries.

THE WORD’S TRUTH

“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, LAUNCH OUT INTO THE DEEP, and let down your nets for a draught.
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.”
—Luke 5:4-11, KJV
“And say to Archippus, (AND EVERYONE) “Be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord gave you.”
—Colossians 4.17, NLT
